One of my very first patients came in contracting 2-4 minutes apart laying about a minute. OB though since she was a first time mom, and quite young, it would take a while. Dilated to about 3, she was sent home. They didn't even make it out of the parking lot of the hospital before the grandmother of the baby ran back in saying the baby had been born in the car in the parking lot entrance. Needless to say, most of us in l&d triage ran out with a Giraffe, wheelchair, and delivery kit to rescue them. Had we kept her 10 more minutes, she could have had her intended delivery.
Breastfeeding sure is the best for babies however it wasn’t good for my mental health as a mum. I wished i mixed feed even just a bottle a day but still carry on breastfeeding of course, because I haven’t been sleeping for a year now as baby is exclusively breastfed and wants milk all the time. Max hours i get to sleep is 3 hours. I am beyond exhausted. I couldn’t even take turns with my husband. Even if i express, my baby doesn’t take bottles and dummies as he is used to only breastfeeding so it’s useless. But hey my baby is very healthy. It’s all worth it in the end. But i do think that this should be mentioned as well to us like me a first time mum. That’s it thank you.
