Glad I stumbled upon this and your channel. We have some similarities. 9 year old son has been collecting for a while but wasn’t taking great care of his good cards. Dad mode activated. We got sleeves, binders, etc. I also decided to buy my first packs in 25 years. Last night we opened our first ETBs of Obsidian Flames (one for me, one for him) and 20 loose packs of the same series. He pulled the Hyper Rare Charizard, and the reaction was all you could hope for. Now I’m on the journey of learning how to build decks with what I got and get my butt kicked by the kid. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Cheers!
I'm glad you found your way into the hobby with your son! You are exactly where I started a few months ago. We still like to collect, but playing the game has taken over now. Thanks for watching, and congrats to your son for that hyper rare Zard!
I've been collecting Pokemon cards for about 3 years, mainly for the art work. It might be fun too play. But, like you said, there is really know information on how too for beginners. No offense, but this video doesn't help. You need to start with the basic, first. I really don't get what you're saying .
No offense taken, and I get your perspective. I use general terms to simplify my explanations, but I could have elaborated more on what better examples are and why they work. For what it's worth, I am working on an upgraded version of this video where I work out some of the kinks I've discovered since publishing this video!
This set brings back the good memories, but unfortunately, it's a bit overpriced and power crept . Good luck with your pulls. Deck building is sadly dead. I just came back to tgc and I bought 2 league decks just to have a somewhat decent deck to play with. I'm relearning the game with wife and kid and trying to get the hang of all the new mechanics amd insane shenanigans😅
It's always changing, but I think that's what makes Pokemon a good TCG. I've only been playing for a year or so, but it's already changed a lot since I began. The battle decks are a good place to start for sure, too!
So I bought a silver tempest elite trainer box as u suggest here. I would like to know what could be a good second purchase. I'm honestly kinda lost how to proceed here
It depends! Silver Tempest pairs well with other Sword and Shield sets like Lost Origin or Crown Zenith, or just more Silver Tempest. Scarlet and Violet base would help with useful trainer cards you won't find in those sets. It also depends on what you're looking for, and what you like/want to play with!
@@BadLuckBrettTCG tbh I didnt expect this to be so confusing (at least for me lol) Im looking to just have casual fun for now with some homies and collect cool cards I pull out on the sides Sorry bout these noobish questions but if u could suggest me one specific product to buy (Ive seen some call with "builds" ready to play? ) what would it be?
@@joz9540 battle decks are a great place to start with learning the game and deck structure. If you're looking to rip packs and use your cards to build decks, the scarlet and violet era is more likely to set you up with relevant cards and powerful pokemon. Paldean Fates and anything newer are good sets to build a playable collection.
Was looking at building a couple decks for my family and I to play together. What combination of boxes or packs would you say for two to three decks? Thanks for the video really enjoying them!
Any scarlet and violet set will have plenty of cards good enough to make a deck with. It really just comes down to what pokemon your kids might like the most. If they like Charizard, then Obsidian Flames and Paldean Fates are the way to go!
I for sure agree that getting an etb is the way to go when it comes to starting to play the actual game. Plus you’ll never know what you are going to pull from the packs.
@@BadLuckBrettTCG she got really lucky with IR Zacian Vstar, we got it on video on posted it up. Check out The Flip Side, we need some pointers to improve.
@@BadLuckBrettTCG I had an ETB and and a few packs didn’t get anything from them but then in September which happened on charmander community day I got them both
