4 years ago my partner and I left the city life and out of that rat race to live a slower paced life off-grid with no previous experience and this channel is all about our projects and builds 3 years into our life on the road to self-sufficiency on a 17 hectare piece of land in Central Portugal
Everything we do is a learning process and we hope you will join us on this learning journey to grow with us. We love putting these videos together and love sharing our experiences so join our family if you wish😉
If you like off- grid vlogging channels you can head on to our sister channel where you can follow our weekly vlog. Luke and Sarah's Off- grid life ru-vid.com
Every time I see finish going on olive wood, I am amazed. I found your channel yesterday and very much appreciate what you are doing and what you are sharing with us.
Well done, I chickened and bought the tool. I also needed by make circled. Had I seen this before I would probably not have bought the tool. There is a delay for the tool to arrive and so on. 😁
Been watching your chainsaw milling vids. Off topic here but was hoping you could answer a quick question about that. Would it be a bad idea to practice with a non-ripper chain until I can get my hands on one?
I know you were really upset about the beams fie your outdoor kitchen. Well I thought of an idea what if you use rocks and small boulders in a wire cage? Like Cindy Vine is doing for her gate. You have an abundance of rocks. You could stack up a bunch then put the cage around it. Use something to reinforce like rebar, cement almost like a corner wall or a door frame. Sorry I think outside the box. Have a wonderful week.
Nice system. I only would take a T- pipe as an out-pipe so you avoid getting a siphon-effect and air can pass through the pipe downwards to your green zone. such a long pipe towards your garden creates a powerfull suction effect and might suck out your container.
Brother, can't we do this from the regular chain? Or is it necessary to ripping chain ?. I watched all your freehand chainsaw milling they're very interesting. Great explanation. You're a very good teacher. Thanks you very much. God bless. Well wishes and love you from faraway srilanka. ❤❤
Hi Sarah and Luke, it's the first time I see this technique of self watering raised bed. I'm thinking very hard about trying one self watering raised bed this year. I can see Luke in the picture next to the greens growing out of the bed. Is that rocket? Thank You for sharing.
Such a great idea and I am sure that you will get a few years of use with little if any cost for the project. Having been a residential recycler for several years and scrapped out, and I would say Hundreds upon hundreds of refrigerators encountering many home Gardeners whom I am sure would have loved such a great idea 💡😉. Happy that I have come to another channel or yours. Thank you 👍
This was such a joy to watch. Your imagination and artistry are wonderous 🤗. This ws beautifully filmed and edited, too. The love expressed all around is palpable ❤. The background music were well placed. The sections without music potently highlighted the rawness of your examining the wood, imagining how the pieces would function, fashioning them to fit your vision -- loved it. I got so startled when as you worked you were swarmed suddenly by tiny kuneboarlets! All those tiny legs threatening mayhem. Awww, so sweet they went to play by the GrandDaddeh❣ 😄: "😒 Move along, Peppa...". Also after you described all how the root ball grew around the stones etc in the earth, i was nervous that bits might fly at you like shrapnel as you milled it 🙀. 🌟I pray Diana will return to enjoy her throne a lot more 🥰.
Great idea. Could do with finding a similar idea to create a longer column for a small house build. Not started yet so looking at all ideas to help to reduce unnecessary costs, as will be building once house only without a building contractor. Let's see.
I don’t think that has any benefit over using and Alaskan mill unless of course you don’t have one. Definitely harder on gear with the constant loading and unloading.
Fair enough.. I don't have an alaskan mill. Haven't tested it myself but less fuel is used to mill apparently. One definite advantage is being able to mill where you drop the tree.
My dearest young man, GOD has blessed with some amazing talents. I always wanted to do thing like BUT I don't have that kind of talent. My talent is being a public speaker. For many years I was traveling on my motorcycle speaking to addiction recovery groups... I love the chair such talent you truly a BLESSED young man... BBE..
My answer to your question would be no, but that's just me ... I've debarked a lot of pines, eucalypts and chestnuts in the last 15 years. TBH I quite enjoy it! I can work at the same speed and remove the same amount of bark each pass with my draw knife. Or sometimes a garden spade. The draw knife for me has much finer control and it's much quieter! Plus no necessity to dismantle the chainsaw. But good to know these things exist and what a great friend to gift you this!.
I Love it Luke!! Beautiful! I don't watch Game of Thrones, but I've seen the Throne chair. They asked Queen Elizabeth if she would like to sit on it? Of course she declined and by law she couldn't. Anyway, a bit of QEII thrown in. IT IS MARVELOUS and all the BIG Adjectives!! Her smile looked like a little girl!! She's proud of her chair! Now that I finally got a close up look at her, Sarah does favor her!❤ BRAVO! A great Uplifting Video after I balled my eyes out earlier! Thank you All!❤❤❤
