my mom used to play this a lot while i was younger, she even has a shirt of theirs from a show she went to back then. i hope i am able to see them live one day :)
I swear the last like minute of a lot of Beach House songs has the most beautiful moments, listening to them and knowing what’s coming in the end makes it that much better. Another song of theirs that I love that does that is the last 40 seconds of Chariot.
Por qué no está en Spotify? 😢 Y sigo sin conocer la letra... sigue siendo mi favorita junto con la de lighthouse! Ojalá regresen a México, no pude asistir el año pasado😢 chale😢
the beginning of this song is from film 少年黄飞鸿之铁马骝, lines in Cantonese. the orginal words are 当归补血,人参行气 鳄鱼化痰,蛤蜊去毒 田七,田七,一粒木咁(粤语“傻瓜”) 毋打啊 毋打啊(不要打不要打)阿爹 and the transaltion is : Danggui(a kind of herb) replenishes blood, Ren Shen(Ginseng) promotes qi circulation, Crocodile dissolves phlegm, Clam removes toxins, Tianqi(a kind of herb), Tianqi, as foolish as a piece of wood (Cantonese slang for "fool"), Don't hit, don't hit, Dad. And I guess Tsin-Tsi is Tianqi in cantonese
Lyrics: 1, 2, 3, 4 You only give me what you don't want no more Ask the questions that you don't know at all Let's lie down for awhile You can smile Lay your head in the old Old fashion You know how it is my friend In the boxes of those picture frames Hold your inside 'cause you're cold at night Warm your heart, love, 'cause you're by my side Let's lie down for awhile You can smile Lay your head in the old Old fashion Lay your head on the Apple orchard Take your time You can settle down Hold your breath 'Cause you're, you're in love with Hold your head only Hold it well
‘Let’s lie down for a while, you can’t smile. Lay your head in the old, old fashioned’ - one of their most beautiful hooks. Victoria’s singing on this track is so emotive
As someone who speaks Cantonese, the beginning of this song is always weird for me and makes the song hard to listen to. It’s a kid reciting the health benefits of Chinese herbs and then towards the end he screams, “Don’t hit me! Don’t hit me dad!” Child domestic abuse is not really something I want on my mind and the lyrics are so abstract I don’t see how it correlates.
