When I first heard this song years before White Diamond's reveal, I imagined her as this depressed individual who puts up a front of benevolence. White diamonds are pretty to look at ONLY when they're in the light, but they lose their luster once they're in the dark. Pink Diamond being "shattered" and eventually leading to White Diamond's breaking point could've been AMAZING in the story, and the events leading to her becoming cold could've been the cherry on top that makes the whole thing sensible. Losing one of the only people who give color to her sad life could've made her arc much more beautiful in a way. Overcoming her grief over Pink's "death" and loving others again even after tragedy felt more fitting for White Diamond's character arc.
For a long time this video made me cry because i felt my mother didn't love me. But it was me just not wanting to accept her love because she didnt protect me from being abused. Today I accept her love and love her back.
The fact that white is a mother to all the diamonds and a grandmother to all the other gems that the diamonds made. (Even though White made her gems in her own Colonies of gems made of white). And feeling that this song would have her express sorrow (Blue) and anger (Yellow), yet she knows she needs to be perfect and flawless despite Pinks "Death". Yet the flaws inside her gem, both mental and emotional would cause her to be shut herself into her own ship forever until Steven arrives to Homeworld and they do a full encounter. Blaming Steven for all the pain that caused all gems, including her own diamond family to crumble into imperfections, lashing out on him. She realizes her flaw of not letting go of Pink, that her motherly connection on creating her children (the diamonds) being stripped from her light a color which was made from her. (Direct Quote from the show finally and also true fact) Losing that Joyous, Hot-tempered, Childish persona to the hands of a rebel gem that killed a piece of her. Yet she doesn't kill Steven, but instead uses this to open her heart that was forever fractured from Pinks death. But what if Rose was never Pink? Would Steven Convince White that, being imperfect doesn't show weakness but shows true strength within yourself and that weakness can always be strength when you believe you are stronger flaws and all. White finally learning the truth of "perfection" realizes how much pain her and the diamonds inflicted on Pink causing her to rush her own colony being made before learning the basics, thus being Shattered by White giving in by Pinks Outbursts. She blames herself for causing Pinks death and that she should've known better to just be there for her own creation, her perfectly imperfect Pink. (This song is so meaningful and deep that even this can let others be so open and mindful to how you can write deep and meaningful stories without even knowing how expressing and passionate you can be...The Arts is truly wondrous)
This video was posted before we knew who the actual va for white diamond was, or what white diamond even looked like! That’s why it says supposedly because at the time it wasn’t confirmed to be wd! I hope this helps ^^
White Diamond💎is also a major alien👽government running🏃♀️character and beautiful ancient intelligent celestial antagonist in my Gem💎Titans franchise. She’s the Queen 👸 alongside Red Diamond♦️of all the Grand Galaxy🌌Authorities, the planet🌎Mineral💎City🌌🌠’s Governments. She has an entire faction or court of follower gems💎called The Jewels💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎.
Back in the day when I watched this video for the first time I imagined White Diamond as a resentful, intimidatingly otherworldly, ethereal and all powerful being singing this to Steven in the midst of a bleak and massively high stakes plot point of the story and I was absolutely awed. I wasn't even a big fan of the show but this arc sure was something. Now that the show went to complete crap and knowing how this character turned out to be a caricature of what could have been, I still feel genuienly upset even to this day. This show wasn't that great from the beginning, but some of its story arcs and elements had so much potential for genuinely emotional adult themes and true cosmic horror. Such a waste.
In my Gem💎Titans franchise, I’m actually carefully taking my time with White Diamond’s💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💠💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎character. She’s a lot more sinister in GEM💎TITANS!
(I do watch Steven universe, I’m just in too many fandoms to count) Christine ebersole is my voice headcanon for queen coral from wings of fire and I can imagine her singing this to herself, or to Auklet or younger anemone.
If you think about it, Pink couldn't grow up and save her... but Steven did. (Yes I know things get tense in SUF but I haven't actually watched it yet so don't yell at me for that pls and thx)
Unpopular Opinion: WD’s redemption ruined the show. WD has been hyped up in past seasons to be the big bad guy, the strongest villain on the show. I was so fucking hyped for some cold, callous monster that couldn’t be redeemed, that would be Steven’s biggest test since he has finally met a foe he can’t redeem and can’t ignore. Her first introductions were cool, and I was dumb to still be hopeful. The way Steven defeats her with... emotion?? Is so stupid. And then they keep her around???? As a good background guy/character??? She was so wasted, and they had so much potential. But they threw it away. This song gives nostalgia of a villain that could’ve been to me.
I respect your opinion and I mean no disrespect but I feel the whole point of steven universe is to help people thats what he loved to do and whites been a villain for who knows how long but the point was that everyone can be redeemed. The worst kinds of people who can throw life away without a second thought which is why this show is so lovely because even though everyone has flaws they can still be loved.
@@dugg750 I dunno I feel like the redeeming of space dictators was a little too much. The entire concept that someone, no matter how horrible they are, can be redeemed is a sweet thought, but it cannot work too well on execution. Steven redeeming every villain thrown at him got super old really quickly. Plus, the two rubies and Aquamarine aren’t redeemed, but the fucking diamonds are?? The space dictators who have tried to kill Steven more than any other gem on the show??? Idk, I like Steven Universe but you have to admit this show has a lot of flaws. I respect your opinion as well, but I heavily disagree.
@@purplvurpl0295 I think it's easier for Blue and Yellow to ve redeemed given their immense love for Pink. I expected them both to come around eventually.
@@purplvurpl0295 she was a space dictator but that doesn't mean she can't be redeemed 🤷♀️ I mean, did you want them to shatter her? That'd be cool and all but it goes against everything the show stands for in the first place. If you want space dictators getting killed watch dbz or something
Seeing as though, as far as this song goes, white diamond is supposed to be a role model for her ‘children’ or the other diamonds, meaning she cares for them and takes care of them to ensure their success. That being said imagine the pain of knowing she could have prevented the infamous shattering of pink diamond. There is no words to describe the grief one goes through after losing a loved one, that’s why they use Blue Diamond, and empath, to personify that grief and agony. This show is twisted in many ways, but also beautiful
