really? this song is unreleased? whew... you'll realize how wonderful this song is... the melody and what it speaks... " just remember love possesses nothing nor would it ever be possessed oh love is love sufficient unto love and you can figure out the rest your children will not be your children they are the daughters and the son of a beginning they'll come through your womb but not be coming from you they will be with you but do not belong to you you may give them your love but not your thoughts then they'll arrive with their own hearts they're the coming of angels this blessed season and then they'll sing oh how God rests in reason God rests in reason so what do you do ooh when God moves through you what do you do say i do i do think not you can direct the course of love itself directs the course allowed believe not God is in your heart, child but rather you're in the heart of God "..... .... love it! 💞😊🙌☝
Thinking like you, Corey, Jason Mraz only sings Kahlil Gibrans lyrics. Isn´t it fantastic with Facebook, I discovered "The Prophet" there and now I´m listening to his text here on RU-vid. Take care! Christina in Stockholm, Sweden.
@coreyklein7322 Thank you for sharing. I ordered the kindle version of the book after i looked it up on amazon and red a review that referenced the marriage section of the book, which seem to have inspired the beginning of this song. Thank you! :)
@coreyklein7322 You're right. He does admit to adapting the lyrics (with only minor changes) from "The Prophet". And it is an absolutely beautiful poem... this song does it justice. I'm not a big fan of the more uptempo version of this song, however. He should have stuck with this version.
@currentGypsy I didn't say it was a christian song. All i said is it may suggest a christian perspective. By the way, Jason Mraz does believe in God. He said so in an interview
Wow, I always was so sad, wondering if this unbelievable superhuman musician, my favourite for all time, knows the Love of God. Now I found this and I believe that when Jason sings 'I do', that he really does. wonderful song, beautiful, touching. 'believe not God is in your heart, child but rather you're in the heart of God' God bless:)
That is one of the greatest love songs ever written. It gave me goosebumps & tears in my eyes. I knew from the 1st moment I heard Jason that he was something amazing. Bravo.
@blackbird12790 I care. I'm interested in what he believes in now. And to write a song like this hints at a christian perspective; you can be christian and brilliant too.
the lyrics are excerpts taken from the poetry/philosophies of the Lebanese Prophet - Kahlil Gibran. Person research led me to discover the rest of his works - truly inspiring. Jason Mraz does an amazing job of musically bringing his words to another level. How cool must that have been - yeah, so my brother is going to write an unbelievably kick ass song to perform at my wedding... what a talent!
