Nip in the Bud works in collaboration with mental health professionals to produce short films to help parents, teachers and others caring for and working with young children to recognise non-neurotypical experiences, mental health disorders or illness to improve prospects of early diagnosis and effective intervention, reducing the risks of those conditions becoming more serious in later years. Our resources are focussed on children aged 3 -11
Our films include conversations about children experiencing anxiety, depression, eating disorders, OCD, ADHD, PTSD, ODD or conduct disorders or children who may be at risk of self-harming or who live life across the autism spectrum. Further resources are on our website which includes factsheets & advice on other organizations that can help. Our films illustrate the behaviours common in different conditions in children, along with explanations and information on how to follow up and get help.
So why the government and the school don't change the system or there are not enough schools or teachers with the knowledge and the abilities to guide them. A big portion of the population globally has it and we judge and make them suffer for something that they have no control. Yes ADHD is a battle for this person that is trying to fit in a society with no understanding. And of course boys are more like it to have it as it is not just genetic is also epigenetic, hormonal changes and different other factors, the stressing environment that maybe parents are forced to deal thanks to the great government decisions more and more people will appear diagnosed or undiagnosed. So when they are going to accommodate the educational system for these individuals because telling a boy you are excluded from the school and don't give the solution or support to the parents it perpetuates the ignorance and creates more socio economic gaps. ADHD is a symptom of a big one society needs to get fixed.
Most teachers today can't even deal with neurotypical children let alone neurodivergent kids. My kids current school lack accountability and follow through. Another day of 'school cant/ refusal' & they don't even acknowledge they're part of the problem. My kid used to LOVE school. Now they're a shell of their former self. Only way to advocate for them is to move them out of this ableist school. Some teachers are just ignorant assholes & do not care.
My child in Kindergarten was going to be expelled, 1st grade aswell. Daughter is fine at home (with ADHD combined) but with ODD it is next level, esp at school. I was desperate. ADHD meds are working for her! It is devastating for me as a parent. It has not changed her character or personality, she isn’t sitting there ‘stoned’. She is more actively engaged. She can focus, concentrate. It is helping her. For us it is the right choice. At 6.5years old, the ODD has subsided with the ADHD meds. Highly recommend (at least trying it).
My son is 14. Since 6th grade, he's been suspended 2 times per school year. Recently diagnosed with o.d.d. and adhd. For some reason the pharmacies never has his meds in stock. Have an upcoming appt with with psychiatrist so we can discuss further prescription options. 9th grade started Sept 3rd. He's lost 2 pairs of glasses in 2 weeks because he chooses to take them off instead of wearing them. Even though we tell him to keep them on.
Im a tutor after school in college. Im an art major. Im struggling, but i had adhd as a kid so I do not want to give up on this kid, even if I am a graphic design major

3:45 is exactly what I'd do everytime I drew or played games. I think Because of the constant exposure to gore when I was really little made me have an obsession with it. I remember my parents would always be angry or just upset with me whenever I would draw the most upsetting and disturbing shit from the age of 5 lol

Beg to disagree with dad but rigidity/lack of flexibility in thinking and planning, being overly sensitive to sensory impact, a lack of ability to discuss and understand feelings and emotions as well as displaying seemingly odd repetitive movements/stemming/rocking in the bath are all very common and typical autistic traits.

Im utterly confused As a little kid i was baissecly gifted I lerned how to read at 5 years old before even going to school and spell and a very high level Suddenly at maybe 11 years old it all started to snap for me Everything became boring and it became worse in middle school. I started to not understand a things of what my teachers were saying and in highschool i didnt get the best grades in my native launguege subject and found out later at 16 years old of my ADD (adhd) now im 17 with still same struggles but graduated. Still confused if this is normal for my symptoms or if ADD can just come to you later on?

Over 7 million kids have been diagnosed with ADHD/ADD in America. Just shy of 12% of all students. I can't believe teachers are still unaware of proper techniques to help their students. What are you being taught in college??? Mind blowing!!!
ADHD symptoms were first recognized around 1900. It blows my mind that the teaching community doesn't have a solution for this issue. It's inexcusable. When I was in school in the 60's, with ADHD, I was a pariah. It scarred me. When my son went through school, his teachers constantly complained. We felt pressure to put him on Adderall. It turned out to be a nightmare. This video outlines common sense. These tactics should have been the standard operating procedure 100 years ago. There's a line in a movie that goes, "Those who can't do, teach. And those who can't teach, teach gym." I completely agree and so does my sister who taught for a while. Putting kids on a drug that's one molecule away from methamphetamine is not the answer. In fact Adderall is banned in Japan and Europe due to its addictive nature. Shame on our teachers and the school systems they work for.
Within weeks of starting Dr. Oyalo's autism herbal medicine, we noticed a significant reduction in our son's sensory issues, hyperactivity and meltdowns.
I thought it was my adhd or autism, but when I found this it brought clarity. Then you mentioned you couldn’t medicate it and it hurt cause when I just thought it was Asd and adhd I was hoping it would get better when I got medicated.
