You are an absolute life saver. I tried silk painting for my last cosplay and struggled so much with my gutta. Thank you so much for this in-depth tutorial 🙏
Do you know if all gutta brands should be mixed with water? Mine refused to come out of the squeeze bottle even though I had one with a much wider nozzle (the only one I had on hand at that time) and then kind of separated the lines every few centimeters 😩 The instructions didn't mention thinning it down so I didn't even consider that idea! It's a gutta that you wash out with water too, unfortunately the only brand available here at all. Thank you for the help 💝
@@CakeCrumb If it's a water based gutta, which it sounds like it is, you should be able to thin it with water! I'd recommend starting light and adding more until you get a nice smooth consistency. When it's too thick, it will come out in clumps instead of a continuous line. Don't worry if it seems like the water isn't mixing in, from my experience it might take a few minutes of consistent stirring but as long as it is a water based gutta, it will definitely mix in eventually!
If my fabric is pink already, can I dye an orange gradient onto the bottom as in will it be visible or do I have to buy a white fabric and dye it pink and orange gradient? Thank you :)
It really depends on a couple of factors! Specifically the shades of pink and orange, your fabric and your dye. If you're trying to dye a very vibrant, pure pink to pure orange, it will work best on white fabric. If your pink fabric is a rather light pink, you might be able to get away with an orange gradient if you're using an intense, vibrant or dark orange. This is also dependent on using the best dye for the fabric type. If you can provide a few more specifics, I can help provide better direction!
OMG, this has helped me so so much with my crunch for a Ren Faire! I totally agree that this video made the entire process much less intimidating and overwhelming!
Thank you! This is self patterned, but as for hanfu patterns I have a few book recommendations. First is Hanfu Pattern Making by TT Duong, which is available in English. The second is the Textbook for Making Han Chinese Clothing by Gu Xiaosi and Xu Handa.
Thank you very much❤️ I've struggled to decide whether to voice over my videos or keep the commentary as subtitles, I think in the end the subtitle commentary is more peaceful 💖
I miss Nomura Tailor! They always have such beautiful fabric but I no longer live in Japan! I miss houjicha lattes too haha! I think Nomura Tailor ships overseas so I might order one day, but nothing beats being inside that store tbh
It was my first time there and it was amazing! It has really beautiful garment fabrics, I was really inspired 💖 I didn't know they had an online storefront, I'll have to check it out!
@@dreamy_december they do! Apparently they revamped the online shop for overseas customers as well so I think it might be even easier to use. I hope you can get some lovely fabrics from them again!
What a perfect piece. I love everything about it, fabric, pattern, colors, the ribbons. And the skirt is perfect. Can you share where did you buy it or the brand? Tks
The boddice is absolutely stunning. And the fit is perfect. Well done. _Suggestion for using the ham_ - I've seen sewists place their ham in a small casserole dish or basket to keep it in position while ironing. It makes a good third hand. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
@@dreamy_december Another suggestion - maybe add boning to the straight vertical seams? The fit is perfect, but the weight of the fabric may be pulling?
Beautiful, the colors and the fabric are like a whisper. I love this. With the acid dying, did you have to keep the water hot for the dye to work? Your gradients are beautiful, and I’d love to try a gradient skirt with chiffon
Thank you! This pattern is drafted based off of measurements from a skirt pattern from the book Textbook for Making Han Chinese Clothing. It's a great resource for hanfu!
So airy and beautiful! One thing I saw my grandmother-- who was a seamstress-- do was put tissue paper under delicate fabrics to prevent the machine from pulling them. You tear the tissue paper out at the end. Keep up the good work! :)
Thank you very much! The tissue paper method is a great tip 😊 I don't usually use it on chiffon French seams because it can become a bit fussy to get out of the seams, but I use it quite a bit on other seam types!
blue and green are my favorite colors..but i don’t think i’ve ever seen them so beautifully done as you’ve achieved with your dye and painting techniques. It makes me feel like i’m breathing fresh mountain air in a tranquil dream. I know that seems dramatic 😂😂but i really just feel this is so beautiful and your channel deserves so much more love!!! Would you ever consider narrating your vids?
This is so kind, thank you very much 💚🍃 blue and green are also my favorites, i bet you can tell from my room decor 😭. I have considered narrating! Sound is going to be my focus this year, I've considered releasing two versions of videos, one with narration and one without! I've gotten pretty strong feedback for both for and without !
@@dreamy_december Yes the thumbnail with your room decor + the outfit is the prettiest thing ever!! Yeah i guess everybody wants something different, I love narration cause i’m always working on a project while i watch 😂
I'm so traumatized from that girl who cut a hand crocheted table cloth from 1940 to upcycle it into a dress that I thought you were cutting up a blanket and got scared.
So beautifully made. I enjoyed the simple clear graceful presentation of. your video. Happy dreaming for 2024 and celebrating holidays and. accomplishment sof 2023!
I always enjoy the array of techniques you use for your cosplays! You mentioned the collar layers are mostly faux but they look like they have so much body and dimension they look like full layers. Wonderful work!
Ah thank you so much! Part of the reason I redid the shirt was that the collars looked too flat, I ended up adding lots more structure!! I'm glad to hear it paid off 😊
Hello, I ´m frensh, excuse my bad English, I hope you understand me 😖 It’s so satisfying to look you in working, so much goosebumps in my head and on my skin ☺️ your cosplay is very beautiful ❤
Thank you so much, I really hope you enjoy the video! I definitely let my video backlog get the better of me this year... One of my goals for 2024 is to stay better on top of releasing videos!
@@dreamy_december I'm one of those who believe quality is better than quantity, I'm happy to wait months between videos because the content is very high quality
The fabric is beautiful and the result is stunning! I already had this pattern saved on etsy and now i’m even more convinced i need to sew it after how beautiful yours turned out.
