Hello there, I think I saw your boat at the GYC on a mud mooring. I have the same boat and I am thinking to put her on a mooring there. Is the Seawych on a mud mooring at GYC any good?
not me. sold the seawych just over a year ago to a member of gravesend yc. now have an intro 22 (quarter ton fin keel) at Erith YC on a swing mooring. . but yes a seawych will happily sit on a mud berth
nope. but thought about it when i had one. id recommend speaking with VicS on the YBW forum (i am woozy-UK on there) and join the seawych owners association. www.seawych.org/ ---------- this is my current yacht- i.imgur.com/EAgxV7R.jpg i.imgur.com/MfyV14n.jpg (see my other vids if interested. thanks)
John, thanks for your message. I registered on YBW. Spoke to our harbour master and the member who owns Seawyched actually has disappeared. Apparently a polish fellow. Was that the one who you sold to? I am going to have a look the boat at the weekend as she looks quite heavy on the stern, I think it might be rainwater from all that time. Has she got a bilge pump at the back? My boat has.
Peter Wassermann the one i had was called bewytched. white with blue hull. it didnt have a bilge pump. thw water would drain through cockpit drain holes. it was an older english man i sold it to for £700 with trailer and tender. i did a lot of work on it but thats the same with every boat. i dont miss it. it was very easy to handle but a real slow boat. much prefer my intro 22. theres still a seawych at our club.
HI John, How did the Intro perform in that race? I've just purchased an Intro myself, 1980 grp which had yellow top sides and a red stripe similar to yours :) I've painted the topsides white by now, mine does'nt have a mast support down below either. I'm in the process of making a dolly trailer, cradle at the moment and would like to get her back on the water by june. Would love to here from you about what you think of the performance you get from your boat, not much said on the forums about these old girls. Heard plenty of praises about David Thomas the designer though. Cheers, Rhun J
hi. that was the very first race i did in it as i got it shortly before. has a little seawych before it. vasty better the intro is. and quick. its known in the club im with in many races in the past. unfortunately i ran it aground in august and lost the rudder when we got towed off the mud. i had a new rudder made for me. but its not quite balanced right so i want to get someone to make me another, or ill have a go myself. i just need the proper dimensions from another. i have been in touch with another owner who may come to the rescue for me. check out these other forums im with they are very helpful. minitonner.proboards.com/index.cgi? photos of mine- minitonner.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=263 www.ybw.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?13-Practical-Boat-Owner-s-Reader-to-Reader pics of me in the trafalgar race- www.flickr.com/photos/105889545@N06/10389580093/in/set-72157636770846623 my intro i know would sail a lot better with newer sails.also a long time ago the mast was reduced and moved slightly. but its still a quick little boat and much more forgiving than i had imagined it to be. and very fun to sail with a very generously sized cockpit and cabin for a 22ft theres some other intro owners here too- www.boatdesign.net/forums/
Hi John, Glad to here that these Intro's are still quick, though I could do with a new set of sails on mine to! Also glad to here that it's quite a forgiving boat as I have'nt owned a single keeled racer before :) If you need a template of my rudder along with some thickness dimensions then let me know and I'll try and send them on to you, Thanks for listing the other Intro owners, Happy New Year.
John Cusick Hi John, I live in west Wales but my boat is currently up in Bangor. I'll be going up in 3 weeks to retrieve the boat. I'll contact you when I have the rudder. I could cut the pattern out on to cardboard and send it to you by post if that's of any use, Cheers, Rhun.
sorry for the spelling mistake, honestly. i could never be bothered to edit the vids. im a lazy sod. soz. the tour was booked with Tour Kiev double-w.tourkiev.com/
HGVs have lots of turbulence around them, if you've ever been overtaken by one (especially on a windy day) you'll know how much they throw you about. You were shielded from the side wind by the HGV and then got the full brunt of the wind AND the turbulence at the front of the HGV (the cab pushing shitloads of air out the way). This will happen to some degree every time you go past an HGV closely
thanks for your sub too. im loving the vara. when i can afford to i do hope to do my full license. and eventually get a bigger bike as i am 37 years old. also, i am a member of London Bikers so get to see many other bikes i can dream about owning
Thanks for the sub mate. I did a similar thing - started out on a Yamaha Majesty then got a baby Varadero for my first geared bike. The best 125 to start on IMO ;)
