I just got a bottle of lot 13 with an unbroken seal while clearing my grandparents house out. Thank for sharing your thoughts of it. Very excited now to find an occasion to open it and share it.
I enjoy our local Distillery Rock Town in Little Rock it has both pot still and column stilled whiskeys! I enjoy the variety and there cocktails they put together. Cheers guys 🥃👋
@@MetaPrometheus I don't think you'll regret it! A little birdie told me that Peerless will be able to ship direct to consumer in 45 states very soon! - Glenn
It’s not that great. And certainly not worth 7500. I don’t need a box or a tube just a bottle of great whiskey. And though it’s scotch I’d say Macallan has the best packaging. Just saying.
@rogerrandall5140 please don't encourage Glenn's singing...we actually have gained subscribers and our views are increasing and I'd like to keep it that way. - Charlie
I agree they should have a 53 gallon barrel to thieve out of. If this sits for a couple months which is possible the flavors will be impacted by the smaller barrel even under controlled temperatures. Again I’ve seen various reviews on hidden barn. Yes it is a great experience and for 40 you can’t be disappointed with the results. Enjoy!!
I’ve seen various reviews on this brand like all whiskey some like it others not so much. I’d have to try before I’d buy but you can’t get better other than from the source.
Such a great bottle for certain! Ive bought a few krogers store picks of this at 121 proof. They bought too much so the bottles are 29 bucks now. Its so dang good. Similar to michters 10 rye. But to me its honestly lots better
I did the experience as well pretty cool, we also bought a bottle of their Absinth, and they grow the fennel on site for that, and I think the worm wood as well.
I have no idea where this is at but I must pass it every time going to Louisville. I haven’t heard a lot of good things about Hidden Barn. Good to hear they are now on track
I haven't had any of their previous releases, so I don't know how it compares. But I'm a sucker for chocolate and cherries. And this has both, despite what Charlie says lol. But I can see where it might be one of those "love it or hate it" bourbons. - Glenn
Truly a unique Distillery , a little on the pricey side for my taste , but good stuff. They were part of a buying group out of Colorado called Hidden Barn, which did a lot of mixing of barrels etc and they purchased a lot from Neeley's . Not too long ago Neeleys outright purchased Hidden Barn ,essentially buying back a lot of their own product, but now they own that brand.
It was really surprising that Hidden Barn was doing so poorly considering Jackie Zykan was the Master Taster at Old Forester before joining Hidden Barn. Hopefully it's turning the corner now that Neeley owns it.
Ok guys. Fellow Kentuckiana resident here. I think you RUINED Ole Route 8 for me! I never really tried to pinpoint the source, and now that you said Barton, I can't say that it's THAT much better than some of the other products that come from them, even the Trader Joe's Barrel Entry Proof and Kirkland Single Barrel are good alternatives, at less than half the price.
Peerless is hands down my favorite. I think people get turned off because of the price but there isn't anything they've released I haven't loved. Hoping they still have the toasted in October when we visit KY again.
@@AmandaStack I think people outside of the Louisville area are beginning to realize this. And I believe it will only get better. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Glenn
@@SoIn2Bourbon I think so too. I’m able to find the DO bourbon and rye on the shelf here in northern IN. Thanks for the entertaining and informative content! Keep your the good work!
Saw Cases of Overrholt for $19 a bottle at store. Well it's usually $23 80÷ proof. Then I realized it was 114 proof a bottle. So I bought one. Next day bought 3. A case would be nice before the price goes up. Can't see a 114 proof cheaper than the 80 proof. Great neat or on ice. Nice cigar.
@eliwilson8242 man...that's a tough one...they're both similar, but also unique. We're just gonna have to film a side by side to figure it out! Stay tuned, and thanks for watching! - Charlie
@@SoIn2Bourbon appreciate the response Charlie, will be looking forward to that comparison. Did you all happen to snag any of the new starlight 8 year single barrel bourbons??
On the shelves locally are a Peerless Single Barrel Bourbon 122.5 proof, Double Oaked Bourbon and Rye!!! It’s very hard to not buy them every tine I go in. I have 3 of each
It is an awesome pour! Green River is NOT a small operation, though. I just went on a tour there last week, then their volume is HUGE. They're a top producer, and contract distill for several.
Green River is doing things right! I bought several single barrels, most from Liquor Barn, one from Cox's/Evergreen. All were different, not a single one was less than awesome!
@@jporterz2873 we haven't had anything from them that we didn't love either! Come to think of it, I don't personally know anyone who doesn't love it. They are really putting out some great bottles! Thanks for watching! - Charlie
I’m a big fan of KC and I also enjoy rye’s so this is a buy if I see it I also want to get the bourbon rye blend they have out. I will admit the rye is more of a bourbon drinker rye than a traditional rye. Lately I’ve been enjoying Overholt rye’s which are fantastic. Great show. Enjoy!!
The KC10 Rye was just ok for me. Very thin on the finish. But I enjoy the new Bourye 113 prf at $40 way better. I passed at $70. KC12 yr is still its best offering besides a good Sib.
Ive got A Buffalo Trace Single Barrel store event this Friday. Four single barrel releases. Tasting is 5 bucks which goes towards the purchase of any one of the four liter bottle offerings. Which would be 45 plus tax. Seems like most reviews find there a negligible difference between standard and single barrel. Wondering if the 2 hour drive would be worth it
Yes good whiskey is pricey. My local NDP River Roots has a bottle on Seelbach for 299.99. Not a bottle I’d buy but I did get to taste it and it was the best whiskey I’ve ever had. I’d have to save up for 6 months to afford that and it’s just not something I can justify for alcohol. I’ve seen these on Seelbach and I may pull the trigger on a bottle of this brand. Great review guys!! Enjoy!!
I bought a bottle of this in the Bardstown tasting room in Louisville a couple weeks ago. It strikes me as one of the best whiskeys I've had, especially with a couple of drops of water.
