Welcome to my teaching channel. I am currently a student at Texas Tech University in the Austin area. I am completing the TechTeach Across Texas Program and I am documenting my journey on becoming a SPED Teacher. Join me as I go through this awesome opportunity to become the best teacher possible.
@@AlishaHarris41 Congrats!!! It’s such a great program. At the beginning of each semester get all of your assignments and put it into 1 excel sheets with the due dates in chronological order so that you will be able to plan out your week and see at a glance what assignments are due. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey!!
some of the fancy colored alphabet carpets and what not are hundreds of dollars. On Temu, the biggest sizes are abouty $75! You just have to get sticky stuff to make sure they don't shift because they are lighter in weight.
Hello, I was looking for that (yellow) student information sheet on the Especially Education TPT but I can not find it. Can you help me locate it on her page. You should also make a TPT with everything you make. I love your things (:
Thanks for watching! ❤ Here is the link to the student information form: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Helpful-Handouts-for-Special-Education-parent-notes-reminders-posters-2628936

Does this mean your degree is in gen ed and sped? I only ask because I'm wondering the legality of giving a sped class to someone without a degree in it?
wow thank you for posting this video! I am applying for the Summer 24 cohort and had completely not realized that if I am accepted I will not be able to work, huge! I was advised to apply for work/study but i’m not sure if that will be enough
I have a life-time credential from Texas in both Generic Special Education and Elementary Education Teaching. I moved to Southern California back in September of 1999. I love how you have physically structured your room. Do you have a copy of that checklist of what to do? I will pay for it, preferably if it's on TPT keep up the good work.
So for me Geography was not part of my associates degree plan. However, Texas Tech requires their incoming Teacher Candidates to take it before entering the program to help them with taking the certification exams. I would suggest you take it closer to the end of getting your associates so that all the information you learn can be used for the exam. Thanks so much for watching and wishing you the best as you get your teaching degree. ❤️

Absolutely! Not going to say it’s easy. But there were a few members in my cohort that had children. 1 that had 2 young children both in diapers still. Just know it will be challenging and you need to have a really good support system bc they will have to pick up some of the load as you go through the program.
Hello! I'm not sure if you're going to see this since this is an old video. I am planning to do the program and the information given here certainly helped me figure out more info about it. One question I did have though that I wasn't able to find in the website (unless I kept missing it) was how much was the total cost of attendance plus anything else. I just wanna know if ill be able to financially have enough for the program if I do decide to do it and able to get in. Also thank you for your informative video!☺
+Teach 2 Inspire Learning Hi Luisa!, Thank you for sharing your special education classroom with us and I used to be a sped student when I was in school so it means so much to me to see you on here. My question is what will be your classroom behavior management strategies? No teacher should ever try to teach children without a behavior management plan. I hope that this school year is going well or will go well for you. - Dwight
Dwight, Thanks so much for watching! I just incorporated a classroom store and can't wait to show you all! I also utilize a token board in my classroom to allow student to earn something right away. It's been a great couple of weeks! Again, Thanks for watching. ❤️
Hi, I’m thinking about joining the program. Do you go to classes every day? If so do you stay all day? Just asking because I will be having my kids in school and they get out at 3 and want to plan everything out first before I jump into this commitment
Hello Mayra! I'm so excited that you are considering this program. It is definitely a great program. I had student teaching M-Th in the Fall Semester and M-F in the Spring and Summer. Yes, you will have course work to do or attend classes during the week after the school day. It is busy but it only lasts 1 year. Wishing you the best of luck as you go through this journey to get your degree! ❤️
Hi 👋! This is my first year as a Para for ECSE. I also at an elementary school in Texas. My background is 12 years of early childhood education in working at preschools. My end goal is to be a teacher. Your doing a great job😊
Oh that is so exciting. Yes! I taught Pre-K at a private preschool for 10 years before getting my degree in education. That experience is priceless and wouldnt trade it for the world. I am so excited for your journey. You will have to keep me updated on your journey. ❤️
+Teach 2 Inspire Learning Luisa, First off you look good in your outfit in this video. Second thank you for sharing your teaching experiences in Special Education because I am a former sped student and it opens up the door to being able to have the conversation about what is happening or has happened in the schools and for me it inspires me to open up about my experiences from when I was an autistic sped school student. Keep doing what you are doing. - Dwight
Oh wow! It's so cool to hear from a former sped student. It has been such a pleasure knowing that I am making a difference in my students lives. Thanks for watching! ❤️
Hello Marilu! Thanks for watching. I am using TeachTown for my SEL Curriculum. It's a great way to teach social skills to my students. When filming this video I was teaching ECSE and function more as a Resource classroom. I am now teaching Lifeskills and is functioning as a self-contained classroom. The math curriculum that I used in this video was Deanna Jump's Guided Math program. I found this on TPT, which really help to reinforce my student's IEP goals and standards for my state. Hope this helps. ❤️
You’re a rock star! That kind of information is not easy to process in such a short period of time. You handled it flawlessly! Love the Student Information sheet (the yellow copy). Where did you get it from?
Man I wish I could come in on the weekends or even stay after-school. Once 2:45 hits and the kids are gone, we get the boot by 3:00 if everyone is home safely lol I know about working contracted hours but until I get adjusted I'd rather treat my classroom like an office not my bedroom lol
