I had severe burnout for more than two years and i decided to quit(a year ago) I've gone through a very sad, angry, dark and difficult period but I've accepted my life as it is, now I'm doing actually fine. However as I practice for the last concert, i find it quite painful and sad. Thank you for worrying about me. That's so sweet of you.
Most practice videos are not enjoyable to listen to, but this is an exception how it is worked out , beautiful consistent tone. True professional approach.
Hi 🙂 all three violins from the Amati auction were all bought from the auction and on this video and currently I'm playing on the violin i bought from French Luthier "Thierry Ligier" Strasbourg, France.
@@violinpraxis That's so awesome! I recently bid on the auction too but there's a lot of dealers bidding on all the good violins and the fees seem high. Your violin sounds good and responsive!
You have to bid 2-3min before its closing. 1min before the bid-close is definitely better. But Never more than 5 min before. By the way this french violin is not from the auction ;)
Hi 👋 It is about the "broken" 1st finger shape when the scale is descending (1st finger to 4th pinky finger). If one keeps the "good and correct" 1st finger shape, the chance that your pinky finger with the new position would feel not solid enough and somehow it feels like it's not in a correct position. But by making your 1st finger overly "sink" and give a broader surface to the string before the shifting can help greatly to the stability of your shifting and for the new position hand shape. Btw This tip is recommended to advanced/semi professional students only. But one rule applies to everyone and almost all the time, Which is Heavy hand in the low position Light hand in the high position. Thank you very much for watching ☺️
@@violinpraxis Thank you so much for your reply. Exactly it is for me, I never have seen this advice but since I tried it I feel more agile with my downward shiftings. Thank you!
Hi friend, I would like to ask the basis of your bow division, I see that the first spot is the balance point, but then they are not in equal parts as I do, I would like to know your thesis. Thanks!
Hi 👋 Sorry for the late reply One could divide bow equally 3 parts( frog, middle, tip) but i did short frog and tip / longer middle because exercises at the very frog(tip) with only fingers can only happen in limited length. Also the function/weight of bow parts are not all equal. So for me personally, i find it a bit weird and unnatural to divide the bow with 3 times the same lengths.(although which is needed for the beginner students!) But as i said, it's just my personal thoughts, there's no scientific reason behind it 😅😂😂. And it's good to have a longer middle part. Isn't it? 😝 It would be lovely if you could tell me how you mark student's bow so curious people in the comments could try them both! Thank you very much 😊
@@violinpraxis Thank you so much for your reply! I start marking the balance point, I find very useful to mark it for physical reasons (it is where the point of gravity changes). Then I mark the middle of the bow and another for the tip.
The goal of these exercises is rather working on separation of movements(parts) At the nut : without wrist or finger. Mainly upper arm movement (or elbow) Concentrate on UP BOWS. From middle to the point: without wrist or finger Mainly underarm without upper arm/elbow pushing in. No complex movements at the start and at the end. Concentrate on DOWN BOWS Finger movement at the nut: literally just fingers. No other parts should move (wrist, elbow, arm and shoulder Concentrate on stretch and snapping back FULLY In the middle with the wrist : in the video example it seems like fingers are active but it is just the consequence of wrist movement. Concentrate UP BOW movement on the THUMB SIDE of wrist(inside)as if someone pulling a thread there like a marionette doll. At the point with the wrist: this IS very unnatural movement. Usually used as tremolo or very fast passages. So practice not too slow otherwise you'll get lost. Same as before, fingers are not the main character here. Wrist is moving and fingers are just consequence. At the nut with the wrist: fix elbow and upper arm and only activate wrist(thumbside/inside) Play open string or same note until you can separate the sensation.
Hi friend thank you for share video and your practice ...always i practice with you video and i see your write always and do everything you say ...thank you so much ...i want you practice wieniawski 4 and share i want see how you practice 👍🙏
Hi, fellow violin player here. I’ve always had a thin and tense vibrato, and whenever I vibrate double stops, my finger hits the neighboring string. Any tips on how to practice double stop vibrato or reg vibrato in general?
Hitting the neighboring string is actually very good. Do it more. Usually with index finger press down both strings you're playing and of course upper finger should not interfere with the other playing string. But you can simply rest on non-playing string. For example if you're playing thirds on A and D string, 1 finger on both A and D string, and 3 finger could touch from time to time G string. Some cases 1 finger could also rest between A and E strings. Usually fingers on ONE string only produce thin sound and very difficult to do vibrato. In my opinion Vibrato is overrated. Some singers sing with lots of vibrato some don't.but they're all genuine. Free from the pressure that we have to have good vibrato will eventually free us(I'm working on it too :)))) ) I'd say Produce ringing juicy sound first with bow and good intonation. Then vibrato will happen eventually. Because even when you're not doing vibrato sound wave is moving anyway. Vibrato makes the waves more intense or gives some variation to the soundwave. You could also combine with bow vibrato or different bow speed. If you need any more help, i give online lesson sometimes. violinpraxis@gmail.com
It really depends on what kind of person you are, how old, how much time you have, what is your goal etc. There's absolutely no one fit for all recommendation. My recommendation is choose a short/easy piece that you love to play and learn it bar by bar.(not line by line) And do not start your beautiful practice time with depressing scales because "you have to".(do it in between). And if you can play Kreutzer etude beautifully, you can basically play almost everything beautifully. I do offer online lesson, if you're interested you can write to violinpraxis@gmail.com Thank you
It's like the "hidden side" of the musician life and the secret for the mastery: Practice. Thank to your video i've finally got into the violin practice. Said goodbye to the "prodigious" theme and started to play. 4 months from that choice and started to add the new figures and progressions in my own compositions. I downloaded this video to continuing practicing this sonata, the piece that impressed to me so much since i was 16 (due the devil's myth, so edgy) but never got the courage to face that voice which tells you "you're too old for that, you might started in childhood". Finally i'm finishing the second movement, ready and excited for the 3rd one. Simply one of the best sonatas i've ever heard. Also watching how you correct the different parts, repeat some of them and looking your fingering choices with the music sheet in my other hand really gives a more complete idea of how to play this. Sincerely thanks for this kind of videos.
i am 17 and by now i play violin for like a year, and my dream as a violinist is to play this sonata perfectly. As you this is one if not the best sonatas i've ever heard. I always practice some bars of this piece everytime i practice.
Thank you very much for your kind compliment 🙂🙂 I'm glad that it helped Write me to violinpraxis@gmail.com if you need more help or have more questions ☺️
