That's exactly what I planned for my son's school, it just needs to be a little bigger. Eight motors from the big hoverboard are already ready. Thanks for the video and the link.

These are brushless motors in a NEMA 23 form factor, using the ODrive Micro's onboard magnetic encoder for precise position control. You can see a closer look at the motors in the campaign video: www.crowdsupply.com/odrive-robotics/odrive-micro. We'll be releasing more information on the delta bot build itself, so make sure to subscribe to get updates!
Hakko makes a very heavy chisel tip that has a lot more thermal mass than the one you’re using and that works much better for heavy joints like this. I keep two irons on my bench, one usually has a medium chisel point and the other the biggest chisel for when I need to solder joints that have a lot of thermal mass themselves.
Cool however without being open source it won't become the commodity hardware that I need it to be to afford. I hope one day we will have an 80 amp version under 7$ like current ESCs.
USB and all other serial bus systems should always be isolated in industrial environments. Every professional system has such isolator already on board.
@@maxhouseman3129 yea, isolators aren't without capacitance across the galvanic boundary. "Professional" systems also pay attention to self-inflicted interference. _Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineering_ by Henry Ott should be read by all.
It is funny how BLDC controller vendors fail to comprehend that customisable, source available firmware is a mandatory requirement for any serious use case. Used to use ODrive. Not any more, building our own controllers now.
I’m a big fan of open source, but they’re a very small outfit and Chinese clone makers would kill their sales (and any future development by the team) if they gave away everything.
I mean, for all the features that Odrive offers, $80 feels very reasonable. Have you seen the SimpleFOC controllers? They're much cheaper and might suit your needs. They just don't have the same ease of use.
