Nice, however, critical details left out, such as who to find the replacement video controller board that is compatible with the screened some of the connectors as to how they go into the new controller set up...If this was just for entertainment - good job, other wise look for other videos to help.
that's why I don't tell people which one to buy, because every Mac is different, and people would need to disassemble their Mac and find the display serial as I mentioned in the video, then buy the controller board. I got mine locally, it's also on sale in a lot of places
How do you keep the screen tilted where you want now that you’ve removed all the internals? The weighting is screwed up so it tilts to the sky all the time…
Why not just give people the link to the product page of the board...so people at least can have a place to start the project, yes, I know the board is not for every imac, but why not just give the link so we can start from somewhere, or the point of this video is useless
It should be noted for those who haven't had their coffee yet or don't follow the physics that "X-ray camera" with quotes around it doesn't emit x-rays also to be clear x-rays are not brain waves or anything else they're very dangerous limited to 1 millisevert per year per adult for optimal health. The unique hidden hack mentioned uses infrared signals and only receives information via sensors.
you need to take off the display from the iMac, and see the display model number. every Mac is different. you then need to find the controller board for that specific display
aand they blocked it.. So stupid, would have been a great Infrared camera portable.. Its not like you can harm anyone with this really, you cant see through clothes of people or such.. its just an infrared-camera, nothing super special. Typical corporate again.. another company not to buy from i guess.. taking away your access from your own hardware.
The plastic is more translucent in the infrared spectrum which is what the depth cam uses instead of the normal visible spectrum. If infrared passes through so will your signal to the TV making it easier to use at any angle
The gross people in this comment section who ask if they can "see through clothes" or "see through someone's pants/bra" are exactly the reason why this feature has been pulled! I'm glad this feature was gotten rid of/patched cause it means pervs like some of y'all in this comment section can't get your hands on such things. Great video btw!!
This has been already fixed on the new update which gets installed right after you finish setting up the phone for the first time. This is the case, at least in India. If there is anyone without the first update, this might work.
@@purely_maxwell Strange. I tried the same agc version as shown in this video. I can confirm infrared working but see through is definitely NOT working. Its a simple infrared sensor that can detect infrared light.

@@__Scorpio__n i guess you can buy or build such a camera but shipping one into the phone creates potential problems and legal liabilities for the brand that make it simply not worth it (eg being sued because your phone incentivises or facilitates voyeurism)
@@purely_maxwell I have poco F1 and it have ir camera on front for face unlock. There is an app available for accessing IR camera for clicking photos and recording videos. I can see the inside of some plastics with that sensor.
Very cool, but there got to be some kind of solution to make for that exposed piece of print dangling underneath, somebody should make some actual button housing for it
Is there a controller board that can also send audio to the iMac speakers. You use an HDMI cable but sacrifice the audio signal. I have a 2007 20 in iMac and want to convert it to a display with working speakers.
