Thank you for addressing this video and poor action against the horse. ❤ I pray that kindness will come to the forefront for every species on this planet ❤
Well said! She just whipped that poor horse over nothing...carried on and laughed. She is a adisgrace to the equestrian world and NOT a standard anyone should be following or remotely looking up to. Shame on her and should never be allowed to represent the UK ever again or own any more horses. Disgusting Woman.
If she'd been vidoed whipping a dog or some other animal, she'd have ended up with a lifetime ban on keeping animals plus a fine... This is the extent they'll go to, simply to get a horse to prance around like a ballerina to music..... Utterly pointless.
Disgusting how the women's laughing makes you sick. Rspca and World world horse welfare should act on this Sadistic mistreatment of this poor horse, also how long has she flogged horse's to get to the top of her sport.
Wie die anderen Dressur-Nationen geschockt darüber sind. Ich kann mir vorstellen, das es da ähnlich zu geht. Ohne Qual kein Erfolg?
As she should be. Banned from all competitions . However, any applicable charges should filed against her and everyone involved in the "training" of this horse .And for any other horse who suffered the same treatment as well.
What I don’t understand is exactly WHAT was she trying to ‘teach’ that poor horse? It just seemed like random strikes with the whip. If I was that horse, I’d think “Oh, if I do it THAT way I’ll get whipped, but if I do it THIS way I’ll also get whipped”, so what was the lesson she was trying to ‘teach’?
Sadly, Charlotte appears to be an accomplished ‘horse-whipper’. This video begs the question, is this how horses are trained for dressage? Should she be prosecuted for animal cruelty? Whoever is filming is laughing.
I think there are several problems going on in the industry, and most are a direct result of the problems going on in society. No patience, being one of the key issues. Riders are not being taught patience in their own training - doing things before they have properly acquired the previous skill. Being abusive/bullying others - other people, animals in general. Instant gratification - expecting immediate results without being willing to do the work. Thinking about things the wrong way, generally. I think what disturbed me most about this incident, was that she seemed to think it normal, if not funny. She can't even blame a fit of rage caused by frustration, say. It was all calmly and deliberately done. I wouldn't let her anywhere near a horse of mine! As to the blue tongue incident, I have noticed many riders, these days, seem to be very heavy-handed on the reins. I haven't had a horse for some time, but was in a tack shop not long ago, and was looking at the the bits. Horrifying instruments of torture, some of them, and in the wrong hands... It's no wonder so many horses today are going around with their mouths hanging open, tongues trying to escape. It's time to get back to basics!
That is HORRIBLE! (And I'm sure not an isolated case!). She should be banned from any competition, banned from owning/training horses and put in jail for animal abuse. Rolkur needs to banned. FEI needs to do a better job of preventing cruelty to these magnificent animals. And WHO was laughing in that video? And why didn't the rider get off??? Expose the sordid underbelly of horse competition!
I don't buy the claim that this was a one time thing. With how casually she was flogging this horse, on camera no less, that was not a one-off incident.
Exactly, there's no hesitation in her movements and none of the people in the ring are reacting poorly to it. This has happened before. Probably to this same horse.
What in the actual f is that. Horrible and awful and who the f thinks that is funny? Now I see what they meant about ‘circus elephant’ but frankly who is doing that to any animals?
No sport, no medal or trophy, or cash prize is worth putting an animal through that. I do hope that there are immediate changes made within the sport world. Good lord, I took my dog to one training session with a local trainer. We left ten minutes into it because of her methods.
That poor horse. Those whips are cutting. That over bending. Awful. Shame on them all. No animal should feel pain while doing their best. How that horse didn't run and kept cantering in a restrained way amazes me. Thank god for Steve and his like.
According to articles, she whipped that horse 24 times in one minute 🤬 and I feel she lied when she stated that’s not how she trains or teaches! Lies! Let’s all thank the amateur rider who filmed and obtained that lawyer.
Who TF was LAUGHING??? The horse kicked in reaction to the pain of being struck and that lady laughed!! That makes her part of the problem! Making a horse do things it’s not meant to do is wrong, cruel and inhumane.
I am sorry, the woman has been sitting on this video 2.5-4 years? She wasn’t concerned about the horse, she wanted to take the competition out. Disgraceful on all fronts!
I haven’t been able to watch dressage in a long time because it’s painful for me to see the horses in such OBVIOUS PAIN AND DISTRESS in the ring in front of judges who damn well should know better. Even if they aren’t whipping the horses behind the scenes there’s still so much cruelty on display in the ring. Shameful.
I have completely divorsed my self from 98% of those calling themselves horsemen/ women. If the animals are exploited and subjected to any protocol that causes them pain, whether immediate or accumulative i must remove myself from witnessing it. It is to disturbing and there is no drug or escape from the killing it does to my soul.
Thank you, Steve, for speaking up - it's the harder thing to do but the right thing to do. To those who would criticize Steve for this video I say; if I was a horse I would not want you for my owner and if I had a horse, I would not want you anywhere near any of my animals. See the comment from Jennifer Lehman below - her strong words against an accepted practice that forces an unnatural posture for horses and requires "aggressive training" - that is rewarded in judging circles! - is also difficult but necessary if we are to see past our own faults. Thank you Steve!
Thank you Steve Young Horsemanship for the heads up on dressage star Charlotte Dujardin showing the abuse for which she is being banned. All abuse should not be allowed, as it traumatizes the horse for NO GOOD REASON and harms all of us who watch and go along with it.
That poor horse was hyperventilating with anger and frustration!! He was trying to comply but was still being punished!! I sure hope this woman (and others who conduct themselves in the same manner) should be banned! from all horse shows!! And from owning any horses!! Talk about inhumane, WOW! All I can say is: the Lord has a very, very special place in hell for people who abuse animals!! VERY SPECIAL!
