I am so glad you go camping. My brother has MS, in a wheelchair and stopped going... maybe because he was overwhelmed. It made me so sad because it's his favorite thing to do. He would not go even with my husband and I helping. Be well and happy camping. Thanks for the video! Addition: that food looked amazing!
I'm sorry to hear about your brother. It is a bit overwhelming to have obstacle after obstacle to make it through a camping trip. I just take my time. It took me over 2 hours to set up my campsite (a 20 minute job for normal camper) including the white awning which I did by myself. Focusing and executing takes my mind off my aches and pains and when I relax and eat some great food as I watch a sunrise/sunset with deer, squirrels, birds and running creeks, it makes it all worthwhile. I have camped by myself for about 2 weeks each of the past 2 summers. It reminds me that I am very capable and that is a drug that lasts and keeps me chasing adventure.
Im from Pecos Texas live down south on 17 in the Lindsey area I can see the mountains from my back yard and on a good clear morning you can see some trails it’s a nice sight I got some good pictures from the snow/ice storm that hit us in 2021
I upgraded the cog system to the current version and that made a huge difference. It is still chugging away at ranch in the sandy soil up there. No other issues to report so I would say it's a winner!!
Beautiful drive. And it looks like a nice campground. This is one of the few National Parks in the area that we haven't visited yet, so we will be rewatching this video and checking out the campsites before we go. Thanks!
Thanks so much for showing accessibility at this park. We just found your channel and will have to watch more of your videos, it's always good to have an idea of the wheelchair accessibility before we get to an area. We've traveled full time for 6 years now, and sometimes run into some tough situations while camping.
Thanks for watching! Everyone can use the campsite information so you know before you go but it is really important for those that have any type of accessibility issue. Safe Travels!
What an interesting place, definitely challenges the idea of what a National Park can look like! Its probably a perfect park for some people with very specific needs that would make a park in the middle of the wilderness a challenge or impossible.
Very nice. That hoodoo you showed during the Lighthouse part was not in fact the Lighthouse. That’s a smaller hoodoo much closer to the road. The actual lighthouse is much bigger and you can walk right up to it. You can also climb up on top of the peak behind it pretty easily, pretty much just a walk up. The lighthouse trail is about 6 miles round trip though and people underestimate their water needs in the canyon summer.
Another note, I e been all over the state park, even the areas very far from trails. There are lots of interesting sites. There are slot canyons and ruins from the old Goodnight Ranch as well as from the Civilian Conservation Corps during the depression era
Nice video. Glad somebody is taking the time to provide a detailed rundown of campgrounds, very beneficial info. Always use Permethrin and Picaridin products to help with mosquitoes and ticks to make the trip more comfortable. It can get buggy around Mammoth Cave and other parts of KY.
Thank you so much! Now I’ll take screen shots to decide. I need shade and privacy as I tent camp and don’t want to disturb others. Thanks again, this is wonderful! 😊
Nice video, you have some of the best shots of the canyon I've seen in one of these visitor vlogs. Did you ever take a ride on the Sad Monkey Railroad? I grew up and still live 50 mi SW so our family would pack a picnic and spend an afternoon there at least once per summer... usually after a nice rain. The water crossings and those big cottonwoods were the main attraction for me. I was a tree climber. I'd rather be there than at any amusement park. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. I haven't made it over there since 2011. I'm overdue.
Thank you so much! Good photos take some planning and these turned out nicely. Yes, we rode the train and I remember a deer that hung around the snack bar there. You ARE overdue, but I won't tell anyone!
@WildBillAdventures In 2011 I took a friend from Chicago out to the park. When he saw the canyon he was inspired to take 360° photos to have made into background wallpaper for his photo studio. It may have proved to be impossible since he didn't mention it again. After PDC I chauffeured him out to Red River for his first look at the Rockies. It's fun seeing people react to what we take for granted.
@@rt3box6tx74 It is! We went to Germany years ago to visit my wife's sister and we went to either a Natural History museum or a Botanical Garden place in Frankfurt. We stood in line to see a special plant exhibit and when they let us in it was "Cactus". We were not impressed but everyone else there was Oooing and Aaawing. Haha!
As far as animal activity, I have no idea. Rates can be found by going to campground link and looking at current reservations through recreation.gov or whoever they use. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Been there many times..interesting place. The rattlesnakes ? Yes, they are there, so do not allow your pet to go roaming, or walk with them on their leash. The show Texas they do was good, with the canyon back drop. Camp sites are good as well.
I don't understand your question. If you are looking for links to the park or to make a reservation then look above under description and click on more and it has links to the various websites related to park. Let me know if you need anything else and thanks for watching!
I'm been looking at various adaptions to manual chairs to allow for more mobility on less than favorable terrain. This is a good start. Love to see the weight of the product decrease a lot. Its rather slow. Great ideas here. Thanks for working to make things more accessible. Thumbs up.
