Awesome. I’ll come back again for a set of plans after my shop is powered. It’s going to take a while since I am doing the work myself. Time and money - never enough of either.
The key to good 4-facet grind is repeatability of grind on each side of the drill. Using the drill chuck is a good enough method for setting the length but you also need to add a stop for indexing each side of the drill as you turn it to grind the opposite side. Have a look at the indexing method used in the jig presented in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BnaVnvpAD8Q.htmlsi=ja08HZ7gUdDqomNZ
Great idea - if you already have the metal stock on hand. But for the average Joe who would need to find a used pallet jack, then buy-in stock lengths, and the find somewhere to store the heap of offcuts, it probably makes more sense to just buy a new one.
