M. Byrd’s music expands moments of stark intimacy to widescreen proportions bolstered by shoegaze scope, alternative fearlessness, and pop palatability. The German singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer unearths universality from intensely personal songwriting. He traces the genesis of his passion for music back to moments playing the drums in front of the television at three-years-old. Eventually, he found his father’s guitar.
He embraced inspirations as diverse as Alice Coltrane, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and Elliott Smith as well as legendary filmmaker David Lynch. Encouraged by a teacher, he picked up electric guitar and attended countless roots jams sessions at local haunts. “I learned a lot of dynamics,” he recalls. “These memories are really important to me and have shaped the way i make music today. In return it had given me the opportunity to play music for a living.”
His first album "The Seed" was released June 16th via Nettwerk Music.
When I wake up in the night And my mind is still cascadin' In your eyes I try to find How to make it through these changes And you're letting go of me Tonight, we'll try to split the ocean You can take me to the sea A sign of life That can't be broken I am moving through my life At the speed of your reflection Casts a shadow in the night And it could be your protection But you're letting go of me Tonight, we'll try to split the ocean You can take me to the sea A sign of life That can't be broken But you're letting go of me Tonight, we'll try to split the ocean You can take me to the sea A sign of life That can't be broken Letting go of me ---‐---------------------------------------------------- Cuando me despierto en la noche Y mi mente todavía está en cascada En tus ojos trato de encontrar Cómo superar estos cambios Y me estás dejando ir Esta noche intentaremos dividir el océano Puedes llevarme al mar Un signo de vida eso no se puede romper Estoy avanzando por mi vida A la velocidad de tu reflejo Proyecta una sombra en la noche Y podría ser tu protección Pero me estás dejando ir Esta noche intentaremos dividir el océano Puedes llevarme al mar Un signo de vida eso no se puede romper Pero me estás dejando ir Esta noche intentaremos dividir el océano Puedes llevarme al mar Un signo de vida eso no se puede romper Dejandome ir 1:22
Seriously good stuff. I absolutely love the chord progression in the verse, so straightforward but so unique! Spotify recommended this song to me while I was listening to Manchester Orchestra and I couldn't have been happier 😄
This is among my favorite songs of the years and totally reminds me of the War on Drugs, the guitar and drums in harmony, it's perfection. Thank you so much for this masterpiece!
