Anything military always has interested me, especially anything to do with the Nazis, such was their inherent evil which was so difficult to comprehend, even in my old age. Having an interest in WW2 and collecting memorabilia from that period is fine. I watched a TV documentary tge other day and it had footage of Hitler on it, does that make me bad?

I have no time for those who second guess from a different time and place. Harris may have been a hard man but he had a hard job to do. Area bombing was all there was. For years it was the only means of striking at the Germans. The resources they had to devote to defend their cities greatly reduced their capacity on the eastern front where the Soviets were in a monumental struggle that Britain could not physically join. Harris' belief that he could bomb the Germans to surrender was as wrong then as it is today in Ukraine but still it weakened them and without doubt helped in their defeat. The loss of so many young lives was a tragedy which can never be forgotten but we should honour their sacrifice. They went into battle willingly for their people and their beliefs. Their cause was a noble one even if the means were abhorrent. It was all they had and they used it. To belittle their courage and Harris' judgement ignores the time and the nature of the enemy. Reflect on the Holocaust to understand the nature of the Nazi regime. It was bestial and had to be defeated with whatever tools were available.
Joyce was unfairly trialed and executed, he should of been deported with Axis Annie to america and sentenced there. They fid a good job with this Scot however. Nothing in the last two years of WWII and aftermath was fair on either side, that is what war does to people.
