I spend way too much time, energy and money on my favourite cartoon Batman the Animated Series.

I loved birds of a feather as a kid, it was one of the episodes i had on tape to watch repeatedly. Penguin was very relatable being a wierd kid, i especially liked that he was more monsterous looking, while i prefer the new adventures over all i prefer the batman returns look for penguin. I always prefered characters that could not pass as everyday people or live an average life if they tried, as much as i like dc i think marvel has more of those sadly.
Sometimes, I think we were very much blessed to have such mature, but still universal themes presented to us as children. It is like the Incredibles. Content consumed targeting children as an audience, but also can be enjoyed by adults at the same time. Is modern-day content for today's youth done as well? I don't think so.
The scene where clayface had that stuff forced down his throat while pinned down could be a stand in for SA. This is my interpretation of course but the way the scene played out and how he feels afterwards are very similar to SA and other violent acts. Sometimes SA victims can feel disfigured after their attacks. I could be a bit wrong tho
The fact he overwrote other authors in the tiein comics to properly fridge her again, Im gonna say there was no metatextual motivation. He just wanted her to be a plot device for Freeze, not a character. She might have avoided the implication in her original appearance, but with Dini killing her off screen just to motivate Fries again, he contributed to the horrid trope.
Really sucks that this was Riddlers last main appearance in BTAS given this was the moment they really figured out his character. I’ve always considered his Arkham counterpart to be like a spiritual successor to this version.
Not really. Wally Wingert who voiced the character in the games specifically said that he didn't look at the BTAS Riddler for inspiration nor did the writers. And it's also for the best since Arkham Riddler was significantly better than BTAS Riddler.
Clayface committed suicide. He chose to fight Batman outside in the rain knowing full well that it will cause his body to melt much faster. Then, Clayface tackles Batman off a cliff knowing that he was going to fall into the water. Sure, Clayface tried to save himself but he sealed his own fate by ignoring Stella's pleas to get back inside the mansion.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but this was my least favorite episode of the season. I'm not against supernatural elements, but to me his whole shtick of only stealing from the poor was stupid. The poor don't have money, that's why they're poor. Got to be the dumbest Batman villain.
Does anyone ever wonder with the Riddler? Does he have a need for attention or just some obsession with riddles Because I feel like it could be both gorgeous one of each anyone agrees?
I'm not afraid of people with freeze rays and fear gas in real life, but I'll always be afraid of men who think they deserve more and are willing to treat other people like things to get it.
Honestly I really would have loved to have seen Riddler in Almost Got 'Im because in general when most people think the biggest villain leaders in Gotham it's always Joker, Penguin and Riddler and sometimes Two-Face. I honestly would have preferred him being there over Poison Ivy.
I honestly love how the Penguins first appearance puts her in a glamorous light. Especially since most other depictions emphasis the monsterous side of the character from the get go. either in favour. But in the iceberg lounge, she's an fun entertainer and the audience loves her, which makes her actions later on even more horrific and vicious.
Personally I liked Goth Riddler. Unlike TAS version The Batman Riddler got a proper backstory that explored his character and motivesnand made him more sympathetic
i know a lot of people don't like writing and i can't say all of it is good, but with this show it's not only new things to use. also knowing the people making it want to try some new things some are pretty good. i think with time it can be used well but some might not stay it just way for the writers to see what works. and i like see what people ideas are.
2:12 It’s because Darkseid, and all other New Gods, are multiversal entities, with the different versions of them we’ve seen throughout the years are the same being, just different avatars. IMO, it’s really dumb.
2:50 The American Mindset of thinking "Cartoons = Kids" needs to disappear. And censors for FICTIONAL DRAWINGS needs to disappear along with it. Animation and Art is an Untapped Medium of Entertainment and Storytelling that's looked down upon too much or underutilized and censored especially 2d Animation. Japanese Anime, and even for example Avatar the Last Airbender shows Animation ain't just for Kids and can be quite profitable.
Something I really like about this take on Harley is the parallel's there are between her and Batman. Neither fully hide their faces, only obscuring them with the cowl and face paint. Maybe showing that they never fully show who they are at all times. Her being self-aware of her own mental issues and using them in a dark, yet ultimately altruistic manor for Gotham can also be compared to Batman using his own pain to drive him to save others.
Kevin Michael Richardson revealed in an interview that his voice of the Joker is based on Martin Short’s Jiminy Glick whose voice can go "way up high or bring it down low" when he needs to.
Batman shining the flashlight left and right as you said "left leaning" and "right leaning" is an underrated moment. It's the little things like that make you a great editor.
