What's up, EDH enthusiasts, we are the Planeswalker Project!
Here, we are all about the EDH format, or Commander, as the cool kids call it. From CEDH to PDH, and everything in between, this channel exists as a love letter to the game I adore.
We do deck techs, precon upgrade guides, and helpful advice for folks new to the format and veterans!
If you're a fan of the Commander format, I hope you'll take a look and see if we have something for you. Hope to see you around!
I really like The Master of Keys as a commander. The first two cards that came to mind for that deck is Volrath's Dungeon and Lethal Vapors. Normally those two are hard to keep in play, but being able to Escape them as needed looks very interesting to me!
I’ve made great use of cost of arms in my Hazel deck but that’s great for any tribal token deck lol. Also, helm of the Host lets you make non legendary copies of your legendary squirrels for Hazel to copy. My favorite is to copy Chatterfang and the go to town with making tokens
I was looking for a fun idea to bring my deck total to 2. This seems like what I want but looks like I will need to do some work to get it to an affordable price. Is there a place where I can look up card alternatives? As I know basically nothing about the game so looking up stuff one by one will take ages.
One note. Goaded creatures must attack another player if able. If its 1v1 they can attack you. Players are also not forced to pay extra costs. If it is just you and a player with a ghostly prison out the player attacking can attack either of you. Another fun thing is that they attack A PLAYER other than you if able wich means they cant attack planeswalkers either which is a fun interaction
This is great! Chatterfang was my first commander and now I wanna revisit him after Bloomburrow. Any replacements you’d make for the cards that are $18+ and especially Earthcraft for a cheaper build?
Yes. Chatterfang is one of my decks I always keep together, and so as I update this list, the Moxfield page will also be maintained. I’m slowly working on a primer for the deck as well.
Loving the idea of this deck! Seeing a lot of people mention that bag of holding doesn't work with Mairsil, which is correct! The specific ruling here is 607.2b: "If an object has an ability printed on it that generates a replacement effect which causes one or more cards to be exiled and an ability printed on it that refers either to “the exiled cards” or to cards “exiled with [this object],” these abilities are linked. The second ability refers only to cards in the exile zone that were put there as a direct result of a replacement event caused by the first ability. See rule 614, “Replacement Effects.”"
Nice video, thanks. As a newer MTG player, I'm really drawn in my theme. And while I agree with your points on the weaknesses of this precon, I hate to dilute the theme to make this deck competitive. Otherwise, this just becomes another deck and not a LoTR deck.
Crucible of worlds is an amazing card for any landfall deck, especially here, If you got case of the locked hothouse. You are allowed to see top card. So you can use the lands from your grave yard to "fetch" a land but in reality also swapping the top card of the deck if its not useful
The Cycling lands that cost 2 to cycle, like Polluted Mire, works great in this deck with Ashnod's Altar or Fluctuator if you're interested in milling your library in a single turn!
Chatterfang is such a fun commander. I’ve had mine since MH2, and have had many builds. I loved being able to upgrade it with BB cards to make it even more kindred focused.
awesome deck! i have a very similar chatterfang build and i threw in doubling season, parallel lives and roaming throne and demonic tutor. other than those the decks are almost identical and man is it fast and fun
i've been looking for a ygra build that looked fun to me, ordering this decklist straight away. Had to cut the lands cuz boy did you build an expensive land base, but i think it's gonna function fine with a more budget mana package!
Generally when I manage to get Priest in play, I do pivot to targeting opponent cards for my blinking stuff. It does get targeted pretty quickly at that point.
I wish they gave us confirmation one way or another. I play by the head canon that he is from Bloomburrow and was kicked out of the Odd Acorn Gang for not paying the annual membership fee.
Not really. I’m not much a fan of token doublers, especially considering Chatterfang acts as one. The curve is also low enough that a five mana enchantment might be a bit too clunky.
i was thinking that my bloomburrow precon was a waste of money up until i saw thus video. now next goal is to make a squirrel deck. looks so fun if its explained correctly☺️thank you
You’ll get one of each token type for Manufactor making tokens, then you’ll get one additional Food token. Took only sees the production of a quantity of tokens, rather than individual token instances, so you’ll at most get one per group of tokens made. If done repeatedly, you’ll get additional foods.
I've had an unfinished Chatterfang deck on my shelf for almost 2 years, fully themed with cards that synergises with his token generating ability, proxied with squirrel themed art, but never finished it for some reason, untill squirreld away was released, and i love playing chatterfang precisely as much as i expected to.
Definitely a great idea! Make a big keyword soup Mimeoplasm that just rolls over things sounds fun. I’ve been recently dabbling with Necrotic Ooze on Mimeoplasm, so not only do I assimilate the best creature in the graveyard, but I assume the activated abilities of all creatures in all graveyards.
amazing card to consider that i will be adding would be Feasting Hobbit which text says "Devour food 3 (as this enters the battlefield you may sacrifice any number of Foods. This creature enters the battlefield with three times that many +1/+1 counters on it.) Creatures with power less than Feasting Hobbits power can't Block it." THIS IS POWERFUL IN THIS DECK!
