Talking about Junior leagues, nothing is better than the OHL and it's sister CHL leagues. While you're talking about advancing to NCAA, OHL players usually advance to the NHL
Just wait until you find out how much karting is. Adding in all of the expenses it can range from 5k per year to 50k per year. Then you have upgrading to f4, f3, and f,2 with cost well into the 6 figures on the cheap and can get as high as 8 figures.
Depends on the league and team you’re on. If you’re in the QJHL, it’s a very offensive league with little defense, so goalies numbers are worse on average. Being on a poorer team makes it harder too. There’s also the age of the goalie to consider. There’s a lot of factors you need to take into account
Can you compare Euro Ammy leagues to NA Ammys? Like where does highest lvl German or English Ammy falls in NA? What about lesser leagues Euro/NA comparison ?
It is also worth to play tier 3 if you are an European player - (1) to adapt to N.American hockey/schemes; (2) to fit into teams without import limits which are quite strict in all tier 1-2 and D1-D3.
The NJHL is the GMHL west. They made their own league after being kicked out of the GMHL for their garbage level of play and scamming indigenous players
Brand new goalie here, finally in a draft league after assembling my parts(expensive). I’m proud to say that my SV% has gone up from a .58% to .73%. It’s important to note that you’re not who you were yesterday and that the game is filled with competition to strive to beat. Find the top tier in your league and beat him, enjoy it and do it again.
Bedard is a bust. The worst defensive liability in the modern era of hockey. The worst +/- of any rookie in the last 30 years. Worse than rookies in the 1980s when everyone had blown out stats. Since then, lots of rookies have played on worse teams than Chicago. Every #1 pick goes to a lousy team. That’s how it works. Like Hossa in Ottawa, or Kovalchuk in Atlanta. And yet every single one of them for 30 years has done better than Bedard. Let’s not forget that Dickinson played on the same team and was a +4. Heck, Donato was only a -14. There were other 18-year-olds playing on poor teams last year, like Benson and Fantilli, and they did better than Bedard. No excuses. Dude is not a generational talent. He’s just out to pad his stats.
I’m going to comment further when I have more time… I work in USPORTS and have been following this situation closely. But I just want to say you have given one of the best most nuanced responses to this situation! Just wanted to state that. I’ve talked to a lot of “smart” people who dont see it like you do, which is the total picture. Just wanted to acknowledge that! Great job!
you guys are right, hockey is too damn expensive! I'm just glad that I live in Minnesota, we don't have to play the AAA and Academy game. You are kind of stuck where you live but the leagues are solid. The MN Model, community based nonprofit, volunteer ran associations, produces a lot of high end players, so the system seems to work and is affordable. I'm not a huge fan of these private leagues as I feel like they just drive the price of the sport up and up. The cost of hockey is going to be its downfall
@@MbisonBalrog exactly and it works! Minnesota has the highest participation rate of any state when it comes to hockey in the USA and percentage wise were right up there with any province in Canada. Mn makes up 2% of the US population and 20%+ of its high end hockey players . Because of this, and the infrastructure that it allows us to have the state produces the most NHL, D1, USHL and NAHL players of any state in the United States.
American football is actually expensive. But is sponsored by taxpayers. The field are huge expensive to upkeep. There is equipment, traveling, going to big name private schools cost money like Isidore Newman.
yep, but they made the smart move in the 50/60s I believe it was and got it sanctioned under the national high school athletic commission and it was turned into a school sponsored sport which have huge booster clubs. MN I believe is the only state or one of the only states to do this with hockey and hockey is actually somewhat affordable here.
@@MbisonBalrog The Mullen brothers Joey and Brian grew up in Hells Kitchen of NYC. They started playing hockey in the school yard on roller skates at age 5. Joey didn’t start ice skating till age 10. Joey played at BC then went on to a great career in the NHL. Lack of money, equipment didn’t stop them!
I was lucky enough to attend kua as a post grad, and it was quite possibly the best choice of my life. If I had this school for 4 years I'm sure I could have played at a higher level
The rich will always have the advantage. That’s life. But too many stories of athletes, professionals in the work force, entrepreneurs beat the odds and make their dreams come true.
The best atheletes aren't moving forward, the richest are. There will be a skills gap at some point. Hockey Canada is almost there. Layer in Demographic collapse, the future isn't bright.
Lol the top mn hs teams per capita is better then anywhere on planet earth. Minnetonka 50,100 edina 40,000 wayzata 12,000 would smoke any canadian.or Slovakia. Sweden with the same population. A mn all star team with 5 million.pop.in mn would be the the best or tied with Finland/ Sweden. Canada is good. But the # of players is higher bc they're a 33.million country mn is a state
