Guidebook says stay left along shore...last year at high water and this year at medium water, we just water scouted it but didn't see a line between the pourover hole, the rock and shore so we took a conservative line from left to center or at that flow you can just run center the whole way. Later in the day camped there, we did watch an outfitter run between the rock and pourover so it can be done and looks fun.
What frame are you using? It looks like the class V. I want to get the 14' Wave destroyer and get a frame with 2 seats and as much room as possible. Thank you.
Yes, it's a classvgear.com North Fork frame. It's been amazing! I went with a light setup: 13' Wave Destroyer. It's great for 2 people day trips or solo multi-day adventures.
The little black 'pelican' like box has my wallet, phone, socket, box wrench, Invasive Species sticker, sunscreen and pin kit (pulleys, prussics, carabiners). The small dry bag has a med kit, emergency clothes/kit...
Fun fact that hole kills people. There is a clean easy line that all the professionals run on the left. Scout it when you set shuttle and don't become a statistic.
I love this section! It's always good to see the videos of what not to do. For those not familiar with this section it's good to point out what happened here. Both the blue cat and the old puma missed their lines. The guys from the cat need to go back to the Main and learn to self rescue better, that guy trying to swim should have been MUCH MUCH better in that water. And man, the other guy standing up in swift water, in that rocky river, in water over knee deep, is just a huge rookie mistake. Never stand in rocky water you can't crawl in. Cat wasn't rigged to flip either. So many things to learn from in this video. There are 2 primary lines that rafters take, 1 is much farther left next to a kayak boof rock, and the primary rafting line is about 6-8 feet to the right of the Puma. Puma entered the falls on the left on the indicator rock right before the falls, the proper line is to enter to the right of that. The hole in the middle of these falls has a nasty recirc and shouldn't be tempted like these guys are. There are lots of good Canyon videos that show the lines for people looking for them.
@@gpasquin you missed the right line as well. Not a good place to mess up lines. That hole can really hold someone down. Hopefully other viewers spend time and find the correct lines.
Hell yesss!!!!!!! You guys are blessed to have such a #SENDIT crew of rafters!! I'm still searching for an R2 buddy on my SABERTOOTH. this looks soo dope
Fckn nice bro!!! I have an AIRE Sabertooth. bought an NRS frame to start rowing. Would love to pick your brain on your raft, your frame, and your setup in terms of the boat's midpoint. Appreciate any meta.
Thanks for posting! We had just floated the Middle Owyhee the week before and experienced 900cfs at launch to over 12k cfs at pull-out. Nice to see the lower section comparably a little after at still raging flows, generally.
Check the historical flows but would only be runnable in a kayak at that time: waterdata.usgs.gov/id/nwis/dv?cb_00010=on&cb_00060=on&format=html&site_no=13337000&legacy=&referred_module=sw&period=&begin_date=2022-08-01&end_date=2022-08-30
It's a beautiful run, I ran it about a week earlier than you, fun water level. But I wanted to note: the rapid you call Demon's Drop, with laterals coming off the left wall, that's actually Wright Way Drop, and the one you call Pine Bar Rapid is actually Demon's Drop :)
