I don't have the space for all hardware, so I run Windows 1.04 in a Virtualbox VM with MS-DOS 5.0 and as alternative DOSSHELL. The system gets its time and date from the Host OS :) It runs the VBoxVGA driver at 640x480 and Virtualbox multiplied the physical size with 1.5. I missed Solitaire.
This is amazing. This is before my time (I started with Windows 3.1 in Kindergarten, then was introduced to Windows 95 when it came out in second grade).
Caraca, mas que carroça NOSTALGICA! Era absolutamente um PARTO pra iniciar, rsrsrsr Não peguei essa época(nasci em 1988), mas posso sentir a sofrencia que era essa época onde tudo nem mato ainda era.
back when i was still using GEM and windows wasn't really a thing yet, i remember going to my friend's print shop and gawking at Pagemaker running on 2.0RT, ooooooooo
When i was a kid my favorite thing was to play with my dads old latop with windows 98 we had just gotten a new computer with windows xp lol kind of crazy
I started a PC business in 1993. So much fun. My first PC was a IBM 8086. Then 8088, 286, 386, 486, then ...Pentium1 !! I remember first time I was on the net, I think it was 1994, I used MS terminal. Talking about the weather to some guy 5 miles away. lol. Remember when Color graphics came out (CGA), then Enhanced (EGA). Screens were $1000, lol. PCs a little less.
The sound of that floppy disk drive! I still have Pavlov-like associations between it and the anticipation of playing some new and exciting video game. Copying such a game unto a hard drive often took multiple hours. There was always a fair chance that after copying eight floppy disks, the ninth would be faulty and throw an error, meaning the game would be unplayable and I would have to wait until the next time a friend would be willing to make a fresh copy (using the brand-new set floppy disks I would undoubtedly give them to make sure things wouldn't go wrong this time). It was often a long wait, especially because as a young boy I couldn't easily afford new floppy disks, but when I finally got the game playing, it really was very satisfying.
YOU sound stupid. Its not the OS. :/ an OS doesnt make grinding sounds. Sometimes it would beep because of the PC speakers. Kids dont show respect to the golden era...
Eventually Microsoft is going to run out of using numbers and might have no choice but to start from scratch this modern idea isn't gonna work I'm stuck on Windows 10 because I can't afford an upgrade right now the closest I can get is Ryzen which is popping out a lot of cores compared to Intel right now. Those threadrippers too are INSANE how many cores they can cap to TBH I think technology is actually being rushed and we're going no where at all because of the stupid end of life policy which shouldn't even exist I was lucky to be able to even use Windows XP back then.
I got my first computer in 1998 , i thought i will become a Professor but ended up being a keyboard warrior , trolling around , gambling in virtual casinos , shooting zombies in a game , arguing with people i don't know because of frustration and loneliness , buying things online i don't need , watching porn and paying virtual Hoe's for striptease shows .
Computers are actually being rushed not improved at all Linux has actually developed more stable than Windows over the decade Linux Mint has been around since the 2000s and no one is aware of it and you can STILL access steam on it AND it still receives updates. I would highly suggest looking into Linux Mint when you get the chance it has more features than Windows in general.
