Old Marshall’s very depending on the vintage parts used and a lot depends on transformers used. shure the evolved over time a bit and jtm are mostly shared cathode and jmp split But there are no clear definite jtm design and no clear definition of a jmp The names stands for JTM - Jim and Terry Marshall And after Terry his son left JMP - Jim Marshall Products

Holy Schmokes! Holy Grail. The late 60's 50 watt Plexi amps are the BEASTS of the non-master Marshall lineage.

Oh i want the JTM, the JMP and the JCM. Dangit i want the JVM as well, nah all of them. And i think one could have 0.2 W with awesome tone for bedroom playing. I wish some company would make cheapo clones. I could never afford those collectors amps.

How many were made? Are there any modern amps that sound remotely like the 1967 MARSHALL 200?
@pleximaster1338
@pleximaster1338 4 года назад
probably 40-50 and then about 15-20 PA versions

Sounds really sweet... I think your creative ethic is right after me own heart I've an Epiphone Nighthawk which I dearly love... 2011 so it still has the ebony and tho' Seymour D. made piups for it, the stock NSX (?) coils are GREAT (IMHO) as is the Epi mini-HB. Cheers mate

Pleximaster, are you in Sweden? I couldn't understand any of what you said at the beginning, and the cadence sounds like Johan's. It almost sounded like the last thing you said was Плэкси по-стеройду (Plexi on steroids), but none of the other stuff sounded Slavic to me at all. (Let me know, this is going to drive me crazy.) XD Edit: that amp sounds fucking sick btw, holy smokes. \\m//

Yes I am in Sweden... And I did say it sounded like a plexi on steroids as I was surprised that the amp had so little headroom! :)

Unmodified and so much gain? Would you even consider to mod it with the extra gain stage?
@pleximaster1338
@pleximaster1338 5 лет назад
It has the original tremolo circuitry, there is no extra gain stage (the extra valve is for the tremolo unit,) If you really turn the volume yup to 10 this is the amount of gain you have from these amps when NTF is on the 16 ohm tap and presence knob all the way up too

I guess that PA has had that channel converted to lead specs? Did you also disable the other side to increase gain to the poweramp?

WoW, thanks, I got interested in this amp having found this clip and others, then I found the redrawn schematic in a forum. I have a question. I get that it uses a kind of crossover circuit in the preamp, splitting the highs from the lows, then re-combining them after the individual level controls. Well, I may be missing something, but nowhere that I have yet seen has it been mentioned that the highs and the lows are in anti-phase, and also mismatched in impedance, when summed at the master volume. Tell me I'm wrong, or if I am not wrong, is there some magic to this? Is this the magic of this amp?

Hi I got a few more original pigs since I restored this one, they come in both lead and bass versions very similar (check the pig thread on the Marshall forum for the specs) but they sound similar to this one the lead versions have slightly more gain when dimed
