Hello, and welcome to JACOB NOVOSEL STUDIOS. Where EPIC stuff happens.
I am a sixteen-year-old kid who loves anything related to transportation and filmmaking.
What you'll mostly see here is updates on building my first car, and traveling around to car shows.

My first car;
I recently purchased a 1956 JEEP CJ5. I will keep you updated on the build process. As I learn about mechanics and old Jeeps.

Car shows;
Come with me as I explore the automotive world by traveling to car shows. Sometimes it will just be a local cruise-in or some of the largest in the world.

I love America and Horsepower. What more can I say.

I kinda wanted to see a '67 or '68 Mustang hardtop in red there somewhere. My dad sold his to Mr. Larson back in 1976 or so. I remember Bruce backed his funny car into our driveway to get a look at it. He was traveling between races. I remember being amazed by his car sitting in our driveway. He gave us some STP stickers lol. Super nice guy, I remember. I just wish my dad had kept that Mustang.

My winch cable is stuck like yours , I use the control and a click sometimes . I well do as you say and see what going on as my winch never been out in rain or snow then my dads damp Washington garage last year when I used it last. It then stored there 7 months before I could go the 1300 miles to get it . I hope this frees it up and also my control well then work reverse or forward . If you have any ideas please send to my email here Jacob. The solenoids look new - all connections great like new . The brushes in motor like new as it only as said been used in the last 6 years like 10 or 12 times . Thanks buddy . Was not happy got a free jeep and got my trailer hock up , to then pull the cable out on free - stuck and the darn control just clicks now and then. Plan B tow bar ,,,
@JacobNovoselStudios
@JacobNovoselStudios 15 дней назад
Thanks for commenting, that's an unfortunate issue. I would try what I did and pull the gear box apart. See if there's anything stuck and a good cleaning/regreasing should help it tremendously. If you get the cable and drum to turn freely and the engage/disengage lever works and it still just clicks, then you must have electrical issues. Which could be as simple as cleaning the connections for the controller plug and putting some dielectric grease on it as well as checking the power wires on the motor. Just get a good, clean connection on everything. Hopefully, you'll get it fixed, I think some fresh grease in the gearbox will help it.

Fun fact! In the pre-war (pre WWII) days of automobiling, engine dominance wasn't determined by 0-60 times mainly because most vehicles couldn't even reach 60 mph. While there were plenty that could, they were typically large, high end models with substantial engines. Instead, automakers demonstrated how good their engines were by how smoothly their cars could pull away whilst idling in top gear. It was clever for the time because they couldn't simply gear it lower since that would render a slower top speed. Having too tall of a gear would reveal a weak engine. At the time in the US market, not having to shift very often was seen as the most desired. In fact, it was so well regarded that when automakers tried to introduce 4 speed transmissions in the early 30's, it was an absolute disaster. So bad that sone automakers even offered a sort of "recall" where you could bring your 4 speed equipped car and have it exchanged for a 3 speed at no cost to the owner! This is why US autos stuck with 3 speed, and eventually 2 speed transmissions for so long. It is also why finding a factory 4 speed equipped car from that era is so difficult. It wasn't until the gas crisis that automakers really started paying attention to gearing in an effort to increase mileage and increase performance in smaller engines.
@JacobNovoselStudios
@JacobNovoselStudios 21 день назад
Thanks for the interesting comment, and bit of historical trivia. Crazy how now with modern automatics, having 9 or more gears is completely normal. I believe it was chrysler back in the day had vacuum assisted colum shift manuals. Thanks for sharing, I really enjoy learning more about old cars!

A "phillies" is a jeep and a steak sandwich combined, lol! I pronounce it willys since that's how I was taught growing up. Yes the family said Willis, but John North Willys was quoted saying he didn't care how people said it, as long as they bought his cars. I have seen old promo films from the 40s/50s and they mostly say willys. But no matter how you say it, people know what you're talking about.

Honestly, you'd encounter more resistance with the first start on a cold morning, than bumping a warm engine to life in 1st gear on flat ground... it's also a trick that's used off road in situations where you can't risk rolling backward. The starter and ring gear aren't made of glass.

05? Unless you’re living in an alternate timeline, I’d say that’s more than 9 years bro! Try 19 lol. Btw, 5 speed swaps are not worth it on these vans. It’s ridiculously hard. And I’ve done 5 speed swaps on similar year F150’s, and those are easy. But because of how far back the engine sits, and how narrow the trans tunnel is, probably not worth it. There’s a guy on YT with a yellow econoline he did a 5 speed swap to, and eventually he got it to work, but he even said it wasn’t even worth all the work. Also those speed density fuel injection systems are super simple, as far as EFI engines go. If it was me, I’d go through the wiring with a multimeter, and just see what works, and what doesn’t, and replace/fix one wire at a time. Cool van though.
@JacobNovoselStudios
@JacobNovoselStudios Месяц назад
I just forgot 10 years of my life thats all, lol. I even thought something was off, but the camera was rolling, and i like videos to be spontaneous. The manual swap may not work, its just an idea i had since i really like the art of stick-shift driving. and a few more gears would probably help towing. I'll keep th AOD for now and see what happens in the future. You're right the efi would probably be pretty simple to get working and be better in the long run, but i like carbs. Maybe im just too "old-school" but i enjoy keeping older things alive. And I want to learn more about carb tuning. I'll keep the efi system intact so if I ever decide to go back I can.
