A to B, different degrees So much style without substance, so much stuff without style It’s hard to recognize the real thing, it comes along once in a while Like a rare and precious metal beneath a ton of rock It takes some time and trouble to separate from the stock You sometimes have to listen to a lot of useless talk Shapes and forms against the norms Against the run of the mill swimming against the stream Life in two dimensions is a mass production scheme So much poison in power, the principles get left out So much mind on the matter, the spirit gets forgotten about Like a righteous inspiration overlooked in haste Like a teardrop in the ocean, a diamond in the waste Some world-views are spacious and some are merely spaced Against the run of the mill, static as it seems We break the surface tension with our wild kinetic dreams Curves and lines of grand designs Against the run of the mill swimming against the stream Life in two dimensions is a mass production scheme Against the run of the mill, static as it seems We break the surface tension with our wild kinetic dreams, oh-oh Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh (oh-oh-oh-oh) Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh (Oh, oh-oh-oh) (Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh) oh-oh-oh-oh (Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh)
One of Santana's best songs!!! This catchy ditty was all over the radio during the summer of 1981. Heard this on Casey Kasem's "American Top 40 - The '80s" (from June 13th, 1981) the other day. It was the #26 song in the Top 40 that week. Bravo, Santana!!! 🙂
My identical twin is dying of brain lung and liver cancer Please pray for my twin .diagnosed Feb 23 2023 she's a fighter and determined she doesn't want to die at 59
Interesting fact. John Denver had severe photosensitive allergies and the original lyrics were " sunshine on my shoulders makes me hivey." His producer changed the lyrics for a more mass appeal.
Deface the Music was Rundgren's homage to the Beatles. He offers solid pastiches of several different phases of the Fab Four's career. It's worth a listen if you're a fan - the album is spoiled only by Rundgren's sporadically off-key singing (as on this track).
'Ole Audiophile to whom is interested: The original studio video has a corrupted audio track, this is very much the version one needs to hear. To whomever created this video, the momentary flash of additional artists headed with Larry Fast completely floored me! That's a VERY important fact. Aldo Nova is also mentioned. Larry Fast programmed individual synthesizers in a time before most of them came pre-programmed, know this because it gives this album a one-of-a-kind sound that can not be duplicated/thanx
