As said they are cheaper and do the job, they are good for browsing the web and running lots of programs for everyday users, I had one and gave it to one of my grandkids and she loves it.

You didn't ipconfig /release to drop the IP address after setting it to auto-connect to wifi... so... yeah, it had internet and then will try for updates and force a ms account. If you bypassnro and then reboot, then drop the IP address, it has the option of "I don't have an internet connection" and it will bypass the MS account.
