I remember seeing these guys in Kent at what I think was a club still called filthy mcnasties or may have been called the draft house by then, but these guys were just getting air play with this song, and out on the front sidewalk sat a red Ferrari, someone told me it was the lead singers car. I thought Damn I need to learn to play guitar!
As a life long Clevelander I know you grew up in Cleveland if you remember the downtown Cleveland skyline minus Key 🔑 Tower and the federal courthouse. Not to mention all of the new Warehouse District Condos.
I remember all the times in the flats of Cleveland! They were by far my favorite band, next to Michael Stanley. Cleveland ROCKS and always will! This is my town!
I am really good friends W/all the members in BeauCoup. I'm really clod to Frank, Dennis & Tommy. I'm honored to be friends with these guy's & I know I'll be seeing them soon. Just need to get to Cleveland. Believe it or not but I am Franks idol. (Isn't that true Frankie Baby. lol love you guy's Charlie stuck in LA
Some real deluded individuals here the city is a toilet the best they have to offer out of all the most incredible bands of the 80's is this and then attach Cleveland to it must be Michael Stanley leaving these comments still desperate to make a name for himself and this shit hole city moved out and loving it.
wow I don't know where you grew up in Cleveland actually or the suburbs? either way in the 70s and early 80s if you wasn't a pussy and wasn't afraid of getting out and about Cleveland and surrounding areas was cool as fuck and if you could make it here ? you could make it anywhere' the valley cruising in the summertime and the flats on the weekends in the late 80s there was work '', I was in the construction union at 18 and was making good money at 18 years old in 1983 more then most parents so you must of been a lame''
Driving in my first car with a pioneer super tuner and a set of Jensen 6x9's and a Eq....when WMMS played this song........ it was" Crank it up" and piss off the old folks time..It did not matter where, when or what time either,, This song then, and still to this day, makes feel so proud to be born and raised in Cleveland
I had a Pioneer SuperTuner! I still have it - with an 8-track player on it. And I went thru several sets of Jensens. And I listened to WMMS almost religiously, until M105 went to that terrific AOR format. Hearing a whole side of Zeppelin on the radio was a real treat back then. But I don't recall EVER hearing this song. Ever. I'm surprised, bc Frank lived in my 'hood and I'd see him around at parties and bars & such. He was rather "distinctive". My 'Tuner was an underdash mount. :)
A little "We Will Rock You" and some nice guitar riffs makes a nice song. I prefer Sweet Rachel but as a whole a solid disc. I seen their 20th anniversary show at the Cleveland House of Blues in '04 and they sounded good. Should have been a bigger band and I think with better management they could have been. They broke up in the early '90's and then reformed.
I remember blasting this when it came on the radio in my first car as a teen. Grew up just outside Akron and remember driving past the Agora and going to concerts at Blossom Music Center. Those were some good memories.
I am amazed to find this song - I loved it when I was a senior in high school 1986. I lived in a town about 200 miles away and it would play on the radio. Inspired by a recent 80's party, I decided to look up some music I liked way back then and I remembered 'Raised on Rock and Roll". I didn't really expect to find it but so glad I did. Thanks. Great music for a great trip down memory lane.
Greater Clevaland and its people are the best! Cleveland is really an Eastern city with great eastern European cusine, great corned beef sandwiches, among world class restaurants that are all over town. Rock Hall is a world class attraction. Cleveland Museum of Art is top 5 in USA, and Cle Orchestra rated #1 in USA by New Yorker music critic.
