What a similiarity!! Never thought of that. Did you discover that? Did you realisiert the similiarity of the last movement of Mahlers 3rd symphony and the Lento of Beethovens op. 135?
I first noticed the similarity to Brahms' First Symphony when I heard Mahler's Third Symphony as a teenager. I later found out that several musicologists and musicians have mentioned this as well. I'm also aware of the connection to Beethoven's Op. 135. Both Beethoven and Mahler express profound compassion in these works. These two composers are connected not only musically, but also philosophically :)

This wonderful- I am very surprised! I love especially the rich harmonies of the first song. Too bad that her creativity was neglected by her husband which lead to her estrangement from him...
I agree that Alma Mahler possessed remarkable musical talent, and I also love the first song the most among these five songs. However, I find it unfortunate that she composed very little after Gustav Mahler's death. If she had focused all her interests solely on composing, she could have produced even more outstanding works. Recently, I uploaded a video on my channel covering Alma Mahler's entire life, though it is currently in Korean. I plan to create English versions of my music commentary videos soon, and I will share the new version with you when it's ready :)
This is a discovery made by musicologist David Brodbeck, who is a professor at the UCI Claire Trevor School of the Arts :) He defined the notes within the red square in this video as the ‘Clara Motif.’

I completely agree with your comment :) This movement represents the journey towards heaven, with peaceful sections alternating with struggles and despair, gradually ascending until it finally reaches its celestial destination. Additionally, this symphony is heavily influenced by Mahāyāna Buddhism, which Mahler encountered through Schopenhauer. Therefore, this movement can also be seen as a process of humanity returning to its original state :)
Normaly I dont like modern music at all but this really wonderful and impressive! (I personnally compose in classical style and love to elaborate unfinished works by the old masters like Mendelssohns 6th symphony or Beethovens overture on the notes B A C H....)
