Iceland and its rocks did not form due to COLLISION of two tectonic plates. They formed due to DIVERGENCE of two tectonic plates (Eurasian and North-American), which is the exact opposite. Because of the divergence the hot mantle beneath Iceland can rise and form magmas and volcanoes in the rift zone. The shapes are columnar joints in thick basaltic lava flows. They form due to thermal contraction of the cooling volcanic rock, which explains their even shape and distribution. But yeah, you do not have to be a geologist to go climbing great places. Nice video!
Thanks for sharing! I did a very similar trip in 2016. Drove Route 1 around the entire island. Climbed mostly in the north. Just 2 of us, so we didn't get a lot of pics or footage. It was super cool to watch your film and reminisce! Was your seaside climbing on the Bjorg farm in Husavik? That's where we stayed. Amazing climbing and awesome hosts!
Other worldly, such raw beauty & the climbing skills are incredible..what an amazing location, Thank you for sharing YOU ARE TRUE ATHLETES & EXPLORERS! 😊
Great video! These are the kind of experience that make real adventure. No sponsorship appeasement, no impressing "the community" just some friends kicking ass in the world and making memories they'll talk about for years to come.
Moje kondolencje.
WOW - was für geniale Aufnahmen!
