Lots of comments comparing Larry's to Little Richards......I like them both very much....Larrys was a little smoother rock n roll, LR was more raw r&r....choose ur poison...both great....either way, Larry Williams deserves to be in the R&R Hall of Fame..
Amazing stuff for 1950. This has gotta be one of the earliest Mardi Gras/Carnival records. This is recorded before Mardi Gras Mambo by The Hawkettes (1954) and the original version of Jock-A-Mo by James 'Sugar Boy' Crawford (1953).
This is amazing. The first goth record, along with 'Heartbreak Hotel' by Elvis. You can hear the Louis Jordan/jump blues influence when Jay yelps 'I love you'.
What the… I live in the town called Ojai, and just happened to be listening to a playlist of jump-blues when this came on. Why is this song named after us?
