It really depends on your vehicle and type of oil used. Don't always trust your manufacturers oil change interval either. For example, one of the vehicles in particular is a mercedes r320. Manufacturer says every 10k miles. In reality, it should be every 5k miles.
That sludge is well well well over 5000 miles , do you use some low qauilty oil in the USA or something in the UK its pretty standard to change tbe oil after 1 year or 10,000 miles which ever comes first.
Question-everyone goes by mileage when talking about changing oil,now if you spend a lot of time idling, does that effect the oil a lot or no because it’s not actually being driven?
3k even at 5 you are going to get sludge buildup overtime. Most people drive in ,"severe" environments , long idle times , stop and go traffic, short trips yatta yatta , change it early and frequent it's cheap insurance
Only in America do they have 5000 mile oil changes... I've been driving 30 plus years here in England uk and I have always followed once a year or 10,000 miles maximum... None of my cars or vans have ever suffered this gunk...Modern engines as far back as the eighties prevent this...America stop wasting your dollars believing crap like this
