Another time in Emerald once you got to go meet up with me before you get pokeballs I ran into a purple shiny Wurmple that pissed me off I was playing a emulator so I screenshotted it it pissed me off so bad like you can show up three battles before two battles before and I'd have a shiny starter
My first shiny was one Pokemon Gold and Silver came out like the day it came out me and my brother and my mom went up there I got silver my brother got gold I got home pulled out my Pokemon Red Link cable borrow my brother's Game Boy cuz we both wanted to trade some Pokemon like the first starters and I trade the very first starter Charmander and it happens to be purple and I was like what the hell do you know why Charmander purple and he had no idea about 2 weeks later we find out it's a Shiny Pokemon and everybody wanted it offering me all these types of Pokemon
My Childhood Shiny Fail comes in the form of forgetting about my first Shiny, Shuppet in Emerald. I caught it when i encountered it, thinking nothing of it. Then simply forgot about it when transferring to Gen 4 because i didn't wanna wait 24 whole hours to transfer again, so i erased that old file and made a new one to transfer some other starters. I then learned what Shines were and my own heart probably sank when I remembered the Shuppet. I wouldn't have another Shine until Caterpie in the Bug Catching Contest, Soul Silver. I've since acquired several Shiny Shuppet in Omega Ruby.
My one encounter with a natural shiny in the pokemon games was in emerald. It was a shiny skarmory. It was a wild encounter in the battle frontier where I couldn't catch it.
This is a super relatable story! I was 7 when Emerald first came out. My introduction to pokemon had been Stadium and Snap, but Emerald was the first game in the series that I got as a new game so I was super excited to get a bunch of new pokemon and be able to keep up in conversations on the playground about pokemon. Anyway, I encountered a shiny Shroomish and thought it was some kind of graphic glitch so I knocked it out and then shut off my game just in case. It wasn't until a couple of weeks later that I mentioned it to a friend and he told me it was "shiny" and he didn’t elaborate any further. So I thought nothing of it until Diamond and Pearl came out when I finally discovered bulbapedia. Thanks for sharing your shiny tale, it helps to know I'm not alone lol.
Ohh I've got a pretty good shiny fail from my childhood hehe. So pokemon Sun was my first pokemon game, and one of the first pokemon I encounter is a Smeargle. I had my litten use ember on it, it uses sketch and I notice that the paint on its tail is red. I thought, "oh, that's cool! the paint on its tail must change depending on the type of move it sketches!". I caught it and wondertraded it soon after. It was a few years later that I realised I had just wondertraded my first shiny. Twas the story of Picasso the Smeargle... u_u
My first mudkip on Pokemon Sapphire was a shiny, since he was purple I thought he was poisoned and reset my game. I was 8. When I found out what shinies were I cried for days
i dont remember ever witnessing a shiny pokemon at all during my childhood. i had heard from my brother that they were a thing, but i wasnt really interested in that. only 2 days ago did i finally catch my first ever shiny while playing pokemon swsh. i was xp farming for my joltik on route 2 when i ran into a shiny skwovet. i immediately noticed its colors were different, but thought it must be a gender variant until the sparkle animation showed. i genuinely couldnt believe my first shiny pokemon was a level 5 skwovet i had found accidentally while xp farming. anyways i named her joan lol she sits in my pc box for all eternity
I remember playing pokemon crystal when it came out ...exploring mount silver i encountered a blue flamed rapidash in pokemon crystal ! I used up like 380 balls or so all my pokemon were dead ...and i hadnt saved for at least 30 minutes ... in the end i had one of the custom made pokeballs left... i used that pushed B button as fast as i could and it ...was caught...it was my first ever shiny... My brothers first shiny was wierder he had a wierd blue ditto that knew bite ...he caught it the first grass he wandered into when leaving the forest in gold ... since he had seen ditto before he knew it was special but he thinking it was special because it was blue i however knew this ditto was special because normal ones didnt learn any other move... this one knew bite !... regardless whatever i offered him even my holo glurak card he still refused to trade it with me...i never seen such a ditto since...i believe my brothers gamefile was somehow corrupted and created this pokemon... He also used that one in his team...he trained it to level 100 ...good times ...
@@banditandbot9496 no gameshark...this was way back in the 90s if anyone had a gameshark he would have been worshipped...🤣 However we had a "cursed" link cable whenever we used that wierd things happened...
Me and my sister preordered HGSS with a few of my friends yeah? We took my car to be there right as the store opened, got our games and I even let my friend drive my car back to our town. I was in the back playing with my shiny new copy, and mashing through the intro (because ofc I was playing a fan translation I was patching daily before the US release) when I went to choose my starter. I hadn't actually thought about what I was going to go with so I rotated through the lil spinner a bunch of times mulling it over. It was dawn, the sun was bright but something looked off about Chikorita, I stuck my DSi under my hoodie and it was that weird golden colour. I chose her, played through the game and spent so many walks with my pokewalker with her. High school was about to end and I was worried something would happen, so I borrowed my sisters DA, transferred her over to my Platinum save on my flash cart, edited the save and dumped her to my computer before putting her back into the original cart. 10 years go by and I pick up a romhack of HGSS and remember dumping her (long having lost the DSi and cart). Took a search through my data and lo and behold she'd managed to follow me all these years. Edited her in after getting my starter removed her levels and moves and went on another rip through Johto with my old friend. I love you Clarice 💜
Aww, that sounds so special! I am glad you were able to have more adventures with your old friend! Have you been able to transfer her up to modern day?
@@banditandbot9496 I haven't, but to be honest that's mostly because I haven't tried. Kinda fell off of Pokemon for a hot minute there but have been slowly working after the TCG hooked me I guarantee someone made an easy way to migrate them up with a lil software, I'll just have to go hunting :P
The TGC is very dangerous for the wallet. I have about 12 binders full and I casually collect... If you are looking for a more modern game, I recommend "legends arceus", it was a breath of fresh air for the franchise!
@@banditandbot9496 thankfully I kinda live far from events, so online play via PTCGL is my thing because holy hell you're not wrong. At least the code cards can be bought in packs of 500 for 30$ 😭 And will get that downloaded tonight! Sounds like it could be fun :)
I lost a shiny Braixen in the Friend Safari because I forgot to save. I was really excited to show off my shiny Braxian to my older cousin, who also plays Pokémon, but I couldn't find it in the PC.
I'm sorry you lost your first shiny and glad to hear you got it back. My first shiny encounter also ended in tragedy. I was a 11 years old and I had gotten straight As on my first report card of the 00-01 school year. As was customary in my home, my parents offered to reward me for getting top grades and I accepted their offer. Pokémon Gold and Silver had just released in the US. I asked for Silver as my reward and couldn't have been more excited. I was playing through Silver and I received a call on my pokegear from School Kid Chad informing me of a Snubbull swarm on Route 38. Snubbull is a 1% encounter normally; so, I ran to Route 38 to capture one. It didn't take long to encounter my Snubbull and to my astonishment, it sparkled when it appeared on my screen. I was so excited! I jumped out of my chair and started yelling about how I just encountered my first shiny Pokémon to everyone nearby. Everyone nearby included my older brother whom, I am ashamed to say, I often annoyed, sometimes even on purpose. He often bullied me in our vicious cycle we called the relationship of brotherhood. Upon hearing how excited and happy I was about my game, he proceeded to yank the cartridge out of my translucent purple Gameboy color. Thus ended my first shiny's short life. I was so angry and sad. I have never encountered another shiny Snubbull but I did recently encounter a full odds shiny Krabby in a Crystal playthrough. Sorry for the long comment. Keep up the good work on RU-vid. TL;DR: My first shiny was lost because my brother yanked my game cartridge out of my Gameboy.
I remember this guy. Never cared that much about the Winstrate family, but meeting Vito in Victory Road (and immediately squishing him flat) was a fun way to be reminded of how far I'd come since the early stages of the game.
And that, my friends, is why people consider Maxie and Archie, the LEADING VILLAINS of Gen 3, to be better parents than Norman. Especially with how they treat the player after the main campaign.
You'd think a gym leader who raises a kid (absently, I'll grant you) would hook them up with a starter pokemon, even under the table, before they get their pokedex.
