REAL-WORLD FILMS FOR KIDS, BY KIDS...

Talented young storytellers from around the world are paired with seasoned filmmakers to create powerful documentaries about their lives.

In partnership with public television and education innovators, we share the films and their activation resources to help make global issues feel personal, relevant and actionable for millions of students.

Public television brings the series to 84 million households. PBS LearningMedia brings the films and educational material to 1.6 million teachers and their students. Discovery Education distributes our films and School Guides to 35 million students in middle and high school. Additionally, PenPal Schools distributes our films and curriculum in 150 countries.

Our work serves as a catalyst for change-igniting important conversations and inspiring a new generation of social activists.

"A Short Documentary About the Culture of Indigenous People" Since the "culture" of Indians is fairly small, it stands to reason a documentary would be short. "... the sacred rituals and values of their culture in the wake of centuries of loss due to disease, war and government policies." "disease?" Apparently the medicine men of tribes did little to heal their people. As for the idea that white men brought disease to vanquish Indians, during the 16th through 17th centuries no one knew anything about germs so it's unlikely Europeans engaged in germ warfare. "War?" The Indians tribe engaged in war with other tribes as well as the Europeans. They value the warrior mentality despite losing all major conflicts. "Government policies?" The Europeans won the Indian wars -- who was better at government policies?

I hate it when I talk about My black indigenous ancestors or slavery, and someone who believes that lie only blacks were slaves in the past, when all colors were and racism was taight to us thinking it was only blacks, always say "I'm so sorry for u" and "to bad thay happened to ur ancestors" when it happens to urs as well And even though mine were slaughtered that doesn't make me ashamed or held back. And makes me push harder. And people need to top talking to us like "aw poor u" when I don't feel poor at all. Yes it's traumatic but that's not that holds me back. My ancestors past. The hatred of others is. And I use to wonder.why do people wanna clear their ancestors bloodline OOOOO cuz they were doing things back then to regret. My ancestors were not. I'm eastern Black Cherokee. I'm not tryna clear my past. I'm tryna end a racist one. And it hates me the most than my lighter brothers and sisters. I share the same color as my ancestors. I'm one of those people.im.not tryna clear shit. They died angels.

This young lady deserves recognitions & a high education, not another Government handout. Grants to attend college should be priorities to this Native American. Remember this: " A mind is a terrible thing to waste." I am homeless & still proud because I have my college degree, yet can't afford to buy a house. Our American Government has caused everyone suffering, emotional & financial pain. We need to all get along together and build bigger things in this life. God Bless You! I see what is really going on. I know. ❤❤

Been real interested for many moons, about northern nations, coming from the colonization era! Especially from the central to western region of the u.s. I'm from the eastern region of the established nation! My tribal people are from the central caribbean island, and from the past have migrated from the southern region of the continent! In my corridor it is scarce to see aboriginal nations residing amongst a colony! But this is beautifully acknowledged, about the activities going on in this era of colonization! Many of the youth in this era, aren't getting the proper education, health information, survival tactics and individual importance of being a decent person! This should be spread to other nationalities of young people! 👋🏼🤙🏼✌🏼🧏🏽‍♂️

Absolutely wonderful, but what I don’t get is myself as a traditional Gitxsan man, who continues our culture and everything that we have done, I mean literally no one around her does what I do with my family traditionally, and I still don’t have a Gitxsan or traditional name,, just TYSON,, I’m sober and almost 40, I take absolute pride being native, First Nations, Indian ect. And teaching my culture to the children and those who want to learn, I just don’t understand why I don’t have a traditional name yet😢🤔 But those whom don’t even do anything near what I do traditionally have and are given names, I ask my chief and he said it hard to get a name without staying in the community, but the kids getting names in my wilp,(house clan) don’t stay in the community 🤔 The native companies higher me to teach the children our culture and how to hunt, trap, and harvest our traditional medicines. In other nations, am I able to get adopted into another chiefs house or clan? Because I was asked to be adopted into another wilp (house) and my chief said no when the other chief asked him,, I’m just hurt is all, I mean being very traditional and still known as TYSON 🤷🏽‍♂️😥 May you all enjoy and be protected by the creator. ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾

I am Dineh or by a colonized name, Navajo from the US Southwest or the Four Corners area. Thank you for sharing. We share your experiences of daily life on our lands and continue to have reverence of our culture, language. The challenges are there from the colonialism, but like you, we are still here & continue on in the name of our ancestors for the future.

After i got through all of the cree nations and first nations( i dont actually know what they are exactly called) i loved their way of life they lived and their amazing history and i fell in love with how their landscapes are!

Indigenous copper colored peoples of Turtle Island the Niiji misclassified as African American black mulatto negro etc on the US census records were already in the lands known as the Americas and the Caribbean before the Eurasian colonizers came to take over their lands and identity. African American is a misnomer. The term native american referred to the "know nothing party." Native Americans known today are of Eurasian descent the so-called "$5 Indians" who signed on the Dawes Rolls to take over the lands of the indigenous Niiji. You needs as a native, live like a native in teepees, with some solid structures in a ecologial way. Don't be influenced by the way of life of industrial americans! we are in a whole new area of nature living. Be native, be proud and do what nature wants, do what you wants, do what you feel right for you. Don't forget to speak native.

Powerful and real! I am a grandmother who is Aniishnaabe enrolled in my tribe and a descendant of cultural trauma. It is a reclaiming of ancient teachings and wisdom for us to not fall for the dividing lines but to take what has been left by the trail of the spiritual path and reclaim ourselves. I am raising my great nephew and niece, 5 and 6 years old, very young because their parents fell to the distortions, lies and substances of who they are not. I pray for their healing. I do not live on the reservation with these children like you said it is hard there but live in the dominant society always as a native american. Proud of the people and will continue to be who I am in this dominant world for we are needed now more than ever..

Before I learned any language I learned how to read in Indian from our paintings at the museums , more than three quarters our of people are photographed with deer bone carvings ( gestures) on them , walked into the land decades ago , let the spirits smudge me as I passed the trees and large stones , most tribes have lost all the deer bone carvers , stone carvers , wood carvers and have no idea how they work , the basics of our creations ,... ? ( From a deer born carver )

I really hope that this new generation of Native Americans is going to reconnect deeply with their wisdom, cultures, traditional crafts, foods, songs, and regain their power. You are so beautiful and I’m so sorry to see that to this very day you are not treated by the us government and society with the respect and admiration that you deserve. I ‘m so happy to see this young girl wanting to stop the trauma with her. Your force holds in your wisdom, traditions, your relation to Mother Nature and your sense of community. Love from France
