The boundary between the chalk and the Tertiary beds there contains a layer of shattered and scorched flint from when the asteroid hit 66 million years ago 😲
This is so lovely to see your bringing her back to her glory.. My Dad bought her from Norfolk, she had a trip across to The medway.. Sadly my Dad passed so we regrettably had to sell her. It's lovely to see someone want to restore her. Thank you
Does she still have the original table in the cabin? We had a little bit of A drinking session onboard and sadly the table got broken. To save serious parental troubles Brett and I fixed the table with some wood glue without ever telling the parents. I think the name originally came from another boat that was transferred over to the Seamaster when she was bought. Another story for you. She called Orican in the early 80s... was cruising back up the Thames towards Walton Marina and one of the owners teenage kids fell off the back. Boat carried on but kid was left behind and swam to shore. Boat got back on to the mooring and parents discovered kid missing. He arrived back 20 minutes later soaking wet and had a right moan. The name Orican came from the owner who was the ships Steward on the Ships Oriana and Canbera.
Thank you so much for all the info again! Love hearing the history and stories! We did see papers with the old names on stuffed in the drawers. It’s great knowing about how Orican got its name! Yes we think it’s still the original table but haven’t noticed any fixing! 😀 great story! Keep forgetting to look. Must take a closer look next time we are there. You are very welcome to visit any time. We are there most weekends Thurs to Sun.
Hey there. I used to build Seamaster cruisers in Gt Dunmow back in the sixties, until the company closed in the early eighties. And worked on every single one of the 30's molded. whether fully fitted of hull and superstructure only Dave.
I think I'm gonna spend few hours here... I'll come in august to find a friend of mine that live in Dagenham... and I've found this beatiful place by scanning the google map's map; What is the water temperature here in august?
Many thanks Paul and Brett, how exciting to hear news of her previous life. It's been a pleasure trying to get her back to where she needs to be. Wow Brett, you have the original bell, any chance we could buy it from you? I would also be interested to know how your parents came about the name TB, and of course any further stories. Have a great Christmas, and you are both welcome aboard anytime.
Thanks so much for posting, my family bought her in the late 80's and renamed her Tigerbridge (was Quatre Saisons). We kept her on the Thames and later at Chatham and Medway Bridge. Many happy holidays including trips to France and Belgium. Still have the ships bell with her name on, I even thought of buying her when she was up for sale this year but sounds like I would have had my hands full. You are doing a fine job and look forward to some more updates. Thank you
Thank you so much Brett! We are loving all this information! Do you know why your family renamed her Tigerbridge? Where the name comes from? We did find old paperwork with Quatre Saisons on it! Lovely to hear the stories. I am going to type all these out and keep on the boat for any future owners! If ever you want to visit we are there most weekends! Thurs to Sun.
Good to see this boat is being looked after. In the late 70's she was called Orican and was later renamed Tigerbridge. We accompanied her on a trip to Dunkirk in the late 80's. A fine boat that deserves to be loved again.
I used to live at Chilham Castle, in one of the gate houses (North Lodge). This was my playground :) Great to see the whole Village like this, Thanks :)
Good footage & nice and quiet beach. What is that fitted to the bottom of the Phantoms legs? Is this the P3 Advanced? My P2 is grounded for the moment with either a faulty ESC or motor or both!
