Good Man! Saved My Ass after i mistakenly stole my out of box inks for another printer. This has reset my brand new 5340DW and is now ready for ordered inks!
When I do this on my MFC-J5340DWE I still get replace in message. My situation is that I have refilled all cartridges. It is detecting the black one but not the pink, blue or yellow. Sometimes it is saying reinstall slowly. Very frustrating. Any idea how to have this done? Some people say they made these cartridges with a chip that it won’t allow you to refill them. You are just forced to buy new ones.
MFC-J491DW. Take cartridges out and close the ink cover Unplug for about 10 seconds Plug back in and set date/time Hit: settings * 2864 (ignore double beeps) Hit: 63 (black start) 3 Hit: 99 Install regular cartridges Enjoy your printer

my model is dcp-j562dw. before waching this it was info only for yellow and black that r empty, ater doing what u did now all 4 cartriges are empty. they are new and original. i strongly believe that brother do this intentionally. i lost 2 days searching the internet and still not work. i dont understand why these creatures are allowed to breath our oxygen.
The equivalent for models with no menu key, such as DCP-J1050DW is: Remove cartridges, door open, unplug for 30 seconds, Switch on <Settings> <Mono Start> <up> <up> <up> <up> to enter Maintenance mode, then Use up arrow to select <6> <ok> same for <3> <ok> <mono start> <3> Then to exit <9> <9>.
if you create the hotspot through the pdanet client, and then use connectify to tether the connection to your ps5, it should work. if you try to use pdanet direct to the ps5 without the pc to bridge the connection, it wont work
This is exactly the problem I'm having but unfortunately I have no physical buttons. Only a touch screen which is disabled while the printer is in error. I'm unable to make it do anything at all.
if you scroll through the comments, I recall at least one person having your same issue and explain how they resolved it. if you don't feel like looking, I'll browse through them here soon and post how to do it
what's up partner this video is useful, now my question is once I'm at usb tether mode how come my hotspot from my laptop can't turn on? it does turn on once I'm out off usb tether mode and if I am using public or personal wifi on my laptop? can you please assist us or me if I'm the only person, much applied partner.
I believe it has to do with PdaNet being a virtual network adapter, as opposed to traditional Wi-Fi being a real Network adapter. For whatever reason, windows doesn't allow a hotspot to be created when using a virtual network adapter. That's why I use the program connectify
Connectify allows you to use any network adapter and either create a hotspot from it, or route it to an ethernet port for wired network sharing or pass through to a wireless router
correct, but you cant connect to a virtual wireless hotspot (like pdanet) and create a hotspot from windows at the same time. it would work if you were to usb tether first, then use windows to create the hotspot
OMG bro you saved me from cussing out the brother reps. I've called twice. They sent a regular instead of a starter so it still didn't work. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
hi, it doesn't work for me. I am wondering if it because I am using a mix of real Brother cartriges and and alternative copies. May be the reset work if i change all the cartrige to alternatives copies. It would be a waste as some brother colors are still half full. What do you think? thanks
Sadly it didn't work out for me. After follwing all the steps, and closing the cover for the final step... same error message shows up on the screen... 'please reinstall ink cartriges'. Any other way to overcome this? thanks
