Get this I've got an everton season review for 06 07 , I've got 2 disc's, and unbelievable the second disc is the west ham 06 07 season review, how mad is that🤣🤣
What a great time. Takeaways are; Ludo should’ve gone by then. Danny Williamson got screwed over by us. Allegedly Harry knew he was injured when he signed for Everton. Bilic agreeing to join a relegation rival a few months before the climax is outrageous. It’s like splitting up from your missus but still living together.
I would genuinely be interested to know how many points Miklosko cost the club over the years. Forever getting nowhere near crosses, often not even bothering to dive for saveable shots, so, so many blunders......no doubt a cult hero and a loyal servant, but by christ he was a liability and rarely looked up for it, especially when push came to shove. That Manchester United game apart, his good games were very few and far between. Fair play, 8 years a hammer, but these days with the performances he regularly put in he'd be lucky to last 6 months..
I watched almost every game live during this period and I think Ludo is a victim of the video era in many ways. Lots of goalkeepers playing for struggling teams get made to look silly but highlights videos only show the goals against and mistakes not the saves they make unless they are brilliant or spectacular. Ludo did make a lot of errors but he also made a lot of great saves. I do think he was over-rated in hindsight but he was still a very very good goalkeeper, admittedly at the end of his time here he possibly should have been dropped a year earlier than he was.
@@westhamhistory I think you're probably right, good points. Especially the point about teams in the lower half of the table obviously being under more pressure in games, hence keepers having more to do, hence more errors. Fair point. I would also add maybe it's easy to be critical judging 25/30(!) years later - football and with it goalkeeping has changed immeasurably. With our 2024 eyes almost everything back then looks of a lower standard. OK he wasn't a Schmeichel or a Seaman, and I always felt for such a big guy he should have been far better and more commanding on crosses, but maybe I was a bit harsh. Maybe this is something to look into more when you get to the next season and THAT game at Derby 😉
@@theflyintheointment I have never understood the hype over Ludo. Yes, he had some good days but more often than not, he was (say it quietly) shit! I only remember 90-91 season that he was consistent
I remember that rearranged Newcastle match. I was spending the week in Skegness with the family and drove back to London for the game, returning immediately after the match had ended. I got back to the caravan at 4am! 😂 I also went up to Old Trafford for the last match. What a damp squib that was!
A wonderful watch , crowned by a classic sea horses track. The gift that keeps on giving us happy Mondays .. nice work Banksy. I was at the Sheffield weds match and my late colleague said “ well ‘ ave 3 up here in this half please lads” He got his wish David Daltrey RIP. That was some afternoon.
That Coventry game, I remember going with my elder brother when I was 13, my first ever away day and one of the best days of my life for a very long time. Thanks for the nostalgia, mate.
Half the goals wouldn't be given now thanks to var which has slowly but Surely sucked the spontanay and excitement out of modern day football. Glad I was a season ticket holder in those years and not now! Great video though Rob top work mate
I knew this was going to be a brilliant episode! Of course the football was magic back then, but your choice of music for the soundtrack just shows how brilliant the music was back then too. Happy Days! Come on you Irons!
Still remember that Newcastle game being postponed. Delayed it, then again the postponed. Whilst Arsenal were at home across the way and because it was in sky, their game went ahead. It was a miserable drive home for some of us and the number of Geordies too that had driven down.
I'm proud to say I was at the Spurs game high in the upper West stand at the end where all the goals were scored in the second half and I went home that night absolutely delerious and with no voice left what a night
That 4-3 against spuds was a massive win on a memorable night with it being the anniversary for sir Bobby Moore death , even as a kid I remember the significance of the match.
Ludo was making far too many mistakes by this point - he went on a couple of seasons too long. He should have been replaced way before we brought in Lama and Forrest
I remember driving home after the Tottenham match and listening to the radio. The ever so slightly biased presenter kept on referring to ‘Wind and rain 4, Tottenham 3!’ Haha!
Yes, only a few weeks after telling we couldn’t blame the conditions for our defeat at Stockport (after all it’s the same for both teams, right?) The weather was suddenly 100% the reason West Ham won that night. Didn’t care then or now. Amazing night that signalled a massive shift in the club’s fortunes.
I don't know how I stumbled upon these West Ham retrospective videos but I've already watched all of Redknapp videos. Very good editing and music. Football of the 20th century was amazing to watch. Cheers from Porto 🇵🇹
