How do you clean the buildup on the cylinder? Doesn't seem optimal to just slap a new cup seal on when the cylinder walls aren't smooth for a good seal.
Looking at one in Great Britain, I created more plash washing my hands in the lake to what this over priced thing cost. See one working before you buy.
@@lunarminx its working great i recently used it to build a paladarium which if you ever do make sure you cover the front with mesh so the fish cant swim through the holes & get stuck i messed up & lost 2 neon tetras & my mangrove monitor crawled between the pieces of matala & git stuck so i had to pull him out & redo it so he cant do that again
which material used for valve plate for better life, as we faces issues of burning and sometimes its cuts at suction/delivery hole position. please anyone have suggestion, please share
Just bought this for my 1,200 gallon temporary holding tank (I just moved cross country and brought my koi!). It'll become the filtration system for the new koi pond. So far: excellent! Might get a 2nd if we go over 5,000 gallons (very possible!)
Hey @@stevelapaglia1169, I actually have a 1200-GPH Smartpond Submersible Waterfall Pump. I split the recirculating water between the Matala waterfall and a sprinkler head style fountain (to increase the oxygen to the temporary holding tank). So far, so good. We haven't had any problems at all. I'm sorry to hear your frustrations but my pump is more powerful than the 1K you're using, so I don't think it's that. Where is the system in relation to the pond? Ours is UP, so maybe it's a gravity issue? Maybe call the company? And send pics? It's a great system, I'm sure it's just a set-up issue. Hang in there. If you want to email me pics, (to my first name at my firstnamelastname dot com), I'll try to help more (but the company'd be your best bet!).
Thanks for posting! Quick question: do you recommend turning off the pump the when replacing the filtration discs? We have a small pond but it’s about 10’ deep and hard to find the bottom so ideally hook the hose while it’s bubbling, pull it up and swap it on site. I’m just not sure if that would affect the pump. Thanks again!
i cannot see this being good at holding bacteria, stone medias orr sinted glass medias are best like lava rock or biohome, only very lazy bacteria will stick to static plastic material no matter the surface area. Also i think that they are not going to catch as much dirt as a traditioonal foam, even the finest one still had soome larger holes, they probably take a long time to clog because they are not collecting much.
You have no clue what your talking about! Ive used this product fpr yrs and know many japanese koi sellers and breeders, in Japan, that also use this product! Until ypu have experience with it... Dont knock it! To clean, i rinse with hose 1x/yr. Always crystal clear water! Lmao!
8:04 "...with or without Koi." What are you talking about? How do you get gas exchange in an almost sealed box? How does denitrification happen to reduce nitrates to nitrogen gas?
was wondering what the depth of the pond was? I'm looking into a 200l to possibly aerate my 1 acre pond. I love the power consumption, noise level, and output of the matala pumps but am wondering if how they do with deeper depths in the 8 foot range.
Wish they made a smaller version of this, I'm building a small (350 Gallons) indoor fancy goldfish pond, this is excellent but a bit too large for my indoor pond. Great video by the way.
