Campion Hall is one of four Permanent Private Halls at the University of Oxford. Founded by the Society of Jesus in 1896, the Hall opened originally for the benefit of Jesuit undergraduates, but is now home to a thriving international community of graduate students, fellows, and staff who share the motivation to serve “all things human.”
Please note this is the new official RU-vid account for Campion Hall. The old account (ru-vid.com/show-UCtg15JckxDs8NZOX_dGUurQfeatured) is no longer in use.
Let me guess: Campion Hall was founded by none less than King James II. as part of his endeavour to re-catholize the university, or wasn`t it ? Please enlighten me !
This feels like such an honor to join online. I had no idea that about TS Eliot. I just learned he wrote the poem that turned into the broadway play CATS. I’ve wondered what was behind this play that is so famous and wide spread; I’ve seen it twice and have no idea what it’s about.
Fr Patrick This lecture is excellent. I must read Aristotle in due course. I agree with you that people should take responsibility. I personally believe that the winner should not take all and that the common good should be applied so that the majority doesn't rule, that hierarchy don't rule but that every single person matters. That is what I like about the Roman Catholic Church - every single person matters. I have raised issues in the legal profession because I have concerns about the legal profession which even if I lose my profession as a solicitor I feel so strongly about I have just had to speak out to my regulatory body the SRA even at my own expense. That is because if I adopt the clothes of a responsible citizen which through mental health issues I am not always able to do - but do when I can - I realise that I have to be a responsible citizen in speaking out to protect the young solicitor and the general public too - even if it makes me unpopular with my contemporaries in the legal profession - it is the right thing to do. Anyway I just pressed the pause button to write this. Must go back to watching this lecture in a minute or so once I have made another cup of tea. This is a brilliant lecture - really excellent - so thank you God bless Frances
