Hi there! I'm Yukiko. I'm passionate about ceramics and I'd love to share my personal experience with you through these videos. I really hope you enjoyed them. Channel started 4/17/2023
Hello.😊 No, I studied pottery on my own. I have a small kiln at home, but if I didn't have it, I would get my pieces fired at a ceramic class in my town. Does that make sense? Thanks.🙏
May I ask, what kind of clay body stains were you using before you bought the Mason stains? I am learning to make nerikomi by watching your RU-vid channel. I tried using a clay called “mahogany” for its red colour, but it bleeds the colour into the white clay and actually stains everything it touches. I don’t think it’s the right clay for Nerikomi so I want to try adding stains to white clay. Mason stains seem very hard to get here in Australia, so I would love some hints on the best stains to use for nerikomi !
Thanks for your watching and comments.🙏 I usually use pigment for pottery that I purchase in Japan. There are body stains from various manufacturers. Ι frequently use the products from _ISEKYU_ company. FYI, this is the link. www.isekyu.com/?mode=cate&cbid=2075523&csid=0 I'm not sure if this is the answer you're looking for, but how about adding a light color stain to white clay? I hope your work will go well. 😊🌻
So sorry to bother you, Teacher, if you have answered this elsewhere, but 1) how do you color your clay? 2) what are the dimensions of the clay blocks you start with? Thank you in advance! 🙏
Of course not! The answers are here 1) I mix light green stain into white stoneware clay. The ratio of stain to clay is 6%. Just for the record, the stain is this product, in the link below. www.tougei.com/shop/g/g718118/ 2) They are height 10cm x width 8cm x length 16cm. Thanks for asking😊
Thank you this is a fantastic demonstration of spiral kneading. I have been having problems with doing this properly and this tutorial is just perfect.
Yes, I always stick the clay block when I slice it. You should press the block lightly to the table if it is unstable. Thanks for the question, I'd like to make a small video about it.😊
Thanks for sharing these valuable tips. I'm also a fan of nerikomi. And I just found 50% of my nerikomi pieces have small cracks after bisque firing. It's so frustrated. I will definitely try your tips next time!
