I think the black and gold Dalek and the bronze Dalek with the transparent section beneath the eye are from the very early Battling Daleks set. This set was released before the black Dalek (Sec) had been seen on tv. Therefore the black and gold paint scheme does not actually represent any Dalek seen on tv.
I haven't been collecting the cartoon line, but I've got to say it looks very cool! Shame about the missing flight stand, but otherwise it's a nice looking vehicle. Would have loved this as a kid! They could go quite far with this line as a lot of people think of the cartoon style as the definitive one. They didn't use all the available figures in the cartoon, but they had their own characters they could make into new toys. A Granamyr would be good. On the back of the box, near the top, you can see Snake Mountain. Is this the Origins one, or do you think they'll do a cartoon version of that and Castle Grayskull? Good review, Joe 👍
@stephengray8374 I do think castle greyskull pre eternia will come (all white) and maybe with sharella instead of a sorceress, as for the cartoon line I reckon they will go with all the main characters at least, too-bad up in 30 days on Mattel so if people buy 2 or even 3 that will fund more origins also.
The knees look so much better on the new one. I think I could live with everything else on the original, but those knees were awful! I had the vintage She-Ra when I was a kid. I took some stick for that, I have to tell you 😂 The only other female character I had was Evil Lynn. I noticed they've re-release Orko in Smyths toys as well. They've kept him at the £18 mark which isn't too bad.
i had teela and evil lyn, i was not allowed any she-ra due to it being more of a doll, the girl next door had all the she-ra though so i was in in my element after school playtime lol....in ya face mum and dad
@@joesgeekyreviews Ha ha! I had Kowl from the She-Ra cartoon too. I remember it having that fuzzy flocked feeling to it. Would have liked Catra to fill out the Horde team as well, but there was no way I was going to ask for another doll! Do you read horror books, Joe? I read a pretty good one recently called Pen Pal, and I'm reading one called The Fisherman at the minute. I'm a pretty slow reader but I'm racing through this!
@@stephengray8374 I love Horror, But I'm not a book type person, Audiable though Alexa for me lol Me Mam used to cringe when she heard me playing with she ra putting on a girls voice, and frosta's head popping over the fence from next door.... Fra-La-Lala-La Oh He-man Help Me! LMAO🤣🤣
I'd go with one tornado hand and the shield in the other. That way you get to display all the different accessories together. This is a great figure, and the box art is fantastic as usual. One of my favourites as a kid.
I wish you could attach the hand within the tornado, i see they did it on orko masterverse, shame they did'nt make the mold in this way, this was too one of my favourites as a kid, i think it was because of the popping colours.
@@joesgeekyreviews Yeah, it's a shame they couldn't have done it the same way. It would have been much better like that. Speaking of Masterverse, the Sy-Klone figure is one of the best I've seen. His head sculpt is fantastic!
They've done a nice job with this one. I was curious as to how they were going to do the extension parts, and thought they might do something similar to Origins Mekaneck. This looks absolutely huge! Out of interest, did Ram Man come apart at the waist? I have him, but packed him away and can't remember.
He is huge, I seen some buying 2 or 3 to extend him even more, but that's just crazy lol, Ram Man does not come apart at the waist, ... Packed Away? Lack of Space?
Yeah, kind of. I tend to rotate stuff, so I'll pack one line away and display whatever I'm currently into. At the minute it's Street Fighter 2 and DC Multiverse, but the backdrop is still Castle Grayskull 😂
Nice! I really liked Stridor, so be good to have the dark version. Mantasaur could be an exclusive for the future. Do they have many figures/vehicles left to do?
She looks a lot better with the cape. A black or darker purple would look even better. They really dropped the ball by not including the cape as it's quite an iconic look for Evil Lynn.
I suppose it's good that they're filling out the ranks of the Snake Men, but it'd be better if they did something original rather than just mashing together parts of existing characters. Having said that, Mattel always did like a bit of kit bashing, especially with MOTU! I think the good giant is called Titus, but I don't know the name of the bad one. I have no idea who the other character was either. Interested to find out though. Hope all's well, Joe 👍
Hi Ste, I really want them to finish this original line, there are still some to be released that i had as a kid that i cant wait to see again. Titus that's him, and Megataur, the pic is so small, and my eye sight is so bad lol, Hope all good with you buddy 😜
@@joesgeekyreviews Hope they finish the line so you can complete your collection. Fingers crossed for you. Megataur would look great attacking Castle Grayskull!
Teela's head sculpt is really good! I like how they're able to stand completely straight and I think the shoulder sculpts on the female characters have been improved over the Origins ones. So far, I think these two and Trap Jaw have been my favourites. The Smyths website has these priced a little lower than Forbidden Planet.
Love the Cartoon Collection! Teela and Stratos are tied for my favorite because they look most like Filmation. Man at Arms looked a little off to me then I realized he's got a lot of chin going on so I dipped his head in hot water, did a little squeeze and now he's perfect.
Really like this one. It's the only TARDIS I've ever owned, but I'm pretty happy with it. I think the paint on the Doctor's neck scratches quite easily if you turn the head too much, but apart from that it's a good figure with a decent likeness to the actor. I saw that new Time Lord set in B & M the other day, but didn't pick it up. All gone now of course! You have to be lightning quick at B & M! By the way, I also saw Origins She-Ra at Forbidden Planet, and she has the updated knees. I wasn't too keen on the price hike for the basic figures though! Three years ago they were £15, now they're averaging at £22 or £23. 😢 Have a good weekend, Joe 👍
the motu collection is getting really steep now that they are coming to the end of the line. i may still track down a new version of she ra though. there are rows of dr who in Liverpool stores, no one wants them, even at reduced price, i think i seen the sets at £15 catch the rays Ste, take care.😁 😎🌅
One of the best figures in the whole line! Glad you were able to get him. I was lucky enough to find him at retail when he was first released, along with Webstor and Trap Jaw. I hope they re-release Webstor as well so you can get him, as he's another really good one. I don't have the others in this wave, so I'll keep an eye out for Zodak and She-Ra. Strangely, I had a lot of difficulty finding Whiplash and Clawful. It's weird how some of them seem to be everywhere whilst others are impossible to find. I thought Buzz Off would be tricky, but he's literally in the bargain bins at some places. I can tell you that the first release didn't come with the ring, or at least mine didn't. It's possible it was only given away in limited numbers, but I'm not too sure about that. I noticed the cartoon version of Trap Jaw yesterday and thought he looked great. Probably the best of the Filmation ones so far. All the best, Joe. Hope you're having a good weekend.
Totally Agree, Tri-Klops is Definitely in my top 10, I got my hands on webstor, recently from BBTS, The thing that puts me off buying another she-ra is if she comes in the old sculpt, It's those knees LOL. The 2 you mentioned getting hold of, I had the same problem but with whiplash not so much clawful, Matt at the whole she bang sorted me a whiplash, I am up to date with the cartoon collection, i am though holding back on a couple, i don't need another stratos, i am however defiantly grabbing mer-man. All the best to you too Ste, Have a chilled Bank Holiday.
Yeah, the old knees on the female characters were awful. I hope they fix them for the re-release of She-Ra. I got lucky with the white Sorceress when I bought Castle Grayskull, as I was a bit worried she'd have the old knees. Really glad she didn't! I really like how Webstor is basically one colour, but the little splash of red/orange on his chest stands out. It looks great! Have you seen the review of the 3D printed Eternos Palace? It's on RU-vid, and was very funny. There's no way I'd have room for that!
It's still amazing we never got any of these characters as toys back in the '60s & '70s. At least if we had Scooby and Shaggy we could've just used all those Universal Monsters and various alien toys to fill in for the bad guys.
Thanks so much Joe for this bountiful booty of Dr Who figures! It’s incredibly generous. I accept your challenge and aim to make you some customs using the figures you’ve sent me, plus do a few for myself 😉 - a few Doctor variants spring to mind already.
They screwed up the skirt as well. It’s missing a row of hems on the side. I guess that gives it a more retro feel, since some of the old 60s/70s Dalek toys had inaccurate skirts as well I suppose.
This was another good release. I really like the scarf wearing Romana 2 figure, and combat Sarah Jane fits in nicely with the UNIT set. Pretty sure Sarah Jane wore the yellow outfit in Genesis of The Daleks, but was the blue Romana 2 from City of Death? Or was that just the official pink release? Nice video, mate 👍
April is supposed to be white! Are we sure it isn't shaniqua O'Neal lol. Totally ruined this series just like they did with making all the gay superheroes. I wouldn't play a dime for any of this trash. Stick with the Doctor who in old school stuff when it was not as pathetic as it is now bro.. you don't have many subscribers and you just lost one by posting that as your thumbnail.
Whilst I love Dr Who, there are many collections out there, some of which are hard to come by, and yes I agree that I prefer April as the OG, but this line was mostly brought out to attract a broader audience, to highlight that I don't have many subscribers and that I have lost one due to a toy/thumbnail is a bit of alow blow dude, but of that is how you feel then so be it. Take care man.
I like this set quite a lot. The details on Ace's jacket are really nice, and I've always liked the white Daleks. If I could change one thing, though, I think I'd rather have had the baseball bat than the RPG, simply because it has storage space in the backpack. Otherwise, a great set! Hope you're well Joe 👍
I bought all of them too. Although I was glad to see a Harry Sullivan figure I have to admit to not being 100% smitten with it because of the use of the 4th Doctor body. It would be good to see him re-released wearing his blue blazer though. Yes, there're great figures and i wouldn't say no to more Sontarans in my own collection. I enjoyed your review. 👍
