It is a bit challenging, the timing for jumping barrels is really tight, much tighter than the arcade version, but there are less barrels. My high score is 17200, not too bad for just starting out.
I Have one too. I purchased it at The Tweeter center in Harvard circa2000 & it worked perfectly 20+ years, but i need to know tHe series of buttons i have to press to get it out of circuit protection. Sum dum dum plugged a vacuum into the back:( Please can someone remind me the way to do this. It is not in the instructions but I remember correcting this problem easily once in the past by pressing a special combination of buttons. Can i do this circuit relay repair or do i need to replace a fuse?
Micki Rourke had one of these in 9 1/2 weeks. When I saw the tape flip I knew I needed to get one one day. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wQtVNTBvANI.html
Yup and to my ears I can hear that in this demo, sounds great in both directions! I suspect not many people got the importance of that, then or now. Also, as complex as this system is, Nakamichi did it to make a series of decks with auto reverse that were more affordable and simpler than their Dragon, which had "NAAC" which did servo-controlled head alignment on the fly, though it could only do auto reverse on playback not record. I'd thought about an RX series deck but my dream was to own a Dragon, and finally got one in 1995, lightly used but in need of some attention which a local dealer facilitated and I still own it and will never part with it!
My favorite era of hi-fi design. Brushed aluminum? Check! Black? Check! Soft touch buttons? Check! Redundant labeling on everything? Check! Big colorful VFDs and LED indicators? Check! Pointless but completely awesome motorized shit? *C H E C K*
I found an owners manual on-line for the X-7R but haven't found one for the Mk2 like I have. I presume the LH1 tape selector setting is for normal tape, and LH2 and EE is for high bias tapes ? The manual only shows two tape settings and has a chart for what brands of tape would be compatible with the different settings. The tapes I'm playing were made in the 50s. And I have no idea what brand some of them are. Does it even matter for playback of prerecorded tapes ?
