Great picking Alan! As always,I like your steel sounds. I really like the "City Lights Of New Orleans" you did. I wish I had the track to that song. Can't find Jeff Newmans track anymore. Let me know if you can spare me your track so I can learn the song. Send me a link if possible. Keep picking buddy!
Nice Video, The Sierra Pedal Guitar has been called the Rolls Royce of Pedal Streels. They play well, sound great, stay tuned up & they are a mechanical masterpiece.
One of my favorites also, well done. We used to play this one, and Okie from Muskogee, Branded Man, etc. Seems like ages has passed, I guess because they have! :) I played lead guitar, and did pretty good job of it, especially double stops. The guys thought it was fantastic, but I'd had a classical guitar background, and it was easy. I remember getting a double neck 8 string Gibson, but I couldn't play much, and couldn't find any instruction either. Not in New Jersey at least, back then. So fast forward several decades, I am learning lap steel, and I wish I'd held onto the old Gibson. I don't know much at all about steel guitar tunings, but I was wondering how you got the unison kinda sound in your solo?? It's at 1.25 and at the beginning starting around 10 sec. mark. I'd appreciate if you could spare a few moments and let me know. I'm planning to get a pedal steel if I get better at the lap steel, I'd justify it. I've got a 6 string cheepo, and 2 palm pedals and just got a volume pedal for X-mas! Regards, Peter
Hi Peter Thanks for listening and the kind comments. The unison sound is done using a second string lower lever or a first string raise there are a few ways of doing it on a pedal steel depending on your set up. Jeff Newman learning courses are still the best in my opinion. Good luck with the picking. Alan
