Shift MTB was founded in 2018. We are made up of two guys (Bryan and Greg) who love mountain biking and everything it has to offer! if you join us in our adventures as we meet new friends, ride new trails, learn new skills then maybe, just maybe, you won't receive our old socks in your mailbox!
Craig reminds of Randy from “My Name is Earl”. 🤣 Just kidding… very good and entertaining review. 🤙 Giro Montaro used to be my go to helmet… then I found the IXS Trigger AM, still love it… recently I purchased the new Fox 🦊 Dropframe Pro and Speedframe Pro and really like them… now I’m waiting for my TLD “Pump for Peace” A3 to be delivered… yes, I have issues. 😅
I'm thinking of Waxing my chain so I would like to get a new chain as it would be easier to clean it. I'm not going for the small marginal gains of waxing. I'm going to longevity and cleanliness of that chain and use the current chain for winter. right now I have the KMC X11
@@ShiftMTB it ended up break three times on a 40 mile round trip. Luckily I take spares. It was an old bike, so can't complain. Chain had cracks in it. As long as you have spares. I'll also say, I'm carrying weights. At least 40 pounds
Good basic idea. Though you said you didn't want anything that would not leave the car in its original condition if the rack was removed? Drilling holes in the vehicle doesn't follow that. Lifting a standard bike that height wouldn't be easy either.
On my Raleigh Motus Grand Tour 2021 electric bycycle, I got over 3000 (three thousand) miles on the original chain the bike came with. I ride every day on my commute to work in London UK. Then the chain needed replacing as it was jumping out of the back casete as I would push on the pedals. The new chain and casete the bycycle mechanic at Milton Keynes Rutland cycling, put in my bike only lasted two months, instead of 12 months, which was the case with the original chain. So now I wanna take this matter in my own hands and put a good quality chain in my bike!
The cassette was worn out by the 1st chain, that's why the 2nd had a shorter life. You need to use these rules to measure chain wear, they are a good indicator, although the chain might have other issues than length after a while... Replace you cassette when buying the next chain.
I'm a bigger guy also, 6'2" 250. I was looking at the Capra with the mindset that it would be better for someone my size because it's a little beefier of a build. You said that you felt as though the Capra would be too much bike, why is that? I'm new to the MTB world, coming from desert on a dirtbike. Any input would be appreciated!
First of all, I come from desert dirt bike riding myself. So we are automatically friends! The Capra isn't necessarily "beefier" in the sense that it would be better for a bigger guy. Both bikes are just as capable as one another to accommodate bigger riders like us. The "over-biked" situation I refer to in the video is referencing what each bike is built to do. The Jeffsy is a true trail bike with a tilt for enduro. The Capra is a super capable enduro bike with a tilt toward downhill. Because I live in such a steep area of the world I find myself climbing... a lot. The downhills are great, but they are all do-able on a hardtail (if you have the skill). The Capra is definitely more difficult to climb with than the Jeffsy. However, my very fit friends are still MUCH faster climbing with a Capra than I am on any bike. I just wanted to have a good balance for myself personally. That being said! My rear suspension does take a hammering. I am an intermediate rider and I love jumping and I hit things very hard. My bigger body does take a toll on the gear. My next move with my Jeffsy will be to upgrade to a coil shock until I can lose the weight. With a coil shock behind me it will lose a lot of climbing ability (so I am told, updates to come), but the bike is lighter and smaller than the Capra so it's a good trade off. I'm losing weight very slowly, so this will be a good temporary measure to accommodate the abuse I put it through. I would be having the exact same issues with the Capra, FYI. Let us know what you pick! I get so excited to hear about new mtb guys!
My OneUp V2 stopped working after a year and a half of almost no use due to de pandemic. The post got up alright but it would go down as soon as I sat on it. It didn´t loose any air, it just wouldn´t get looked. Bought mine in ChainReaction so i thought, ok, no problem, I just send it back... They first told me the post only have one year guaranty, wich was a lie, it has two, then after waiting yet another week they say NOW they needed to see it before the send it to the manufacturer... long story short, I had no time to loose jumping through hoops so I had it fixed at my expense. Turns out it had a tiny 5mm, 20cent o-ring broken inside. 50euros and a few hours later I had it running again. Apparently the factory knows about this issue. I spected more for almost 200 euros . Also, don´t buy at Chain reaction, customer service sucks.
Crap! That's good to know! Thanks for sharing! Mine just started to slowly creep down while weight is on it. I was going to just purchase a new damper for like $60, but if coarse it's out of stock everywhere in the world. I'll look into the o- ring👍
@@ShiftMTB Bear in mind you´ll have to make a tool to take it appart, I made mine with piece of cutting board, an old 2mm spoke and a drill. Search for this words on the web to get an idea: " instructables Servicing the non servicable OneUp Dropper " Apparently there is some kind of design flaw that makes the o-ring to get bitten by the actuator inside the piston... Its a shame, its a nice design, super easy to refurbish. I guess they rather sell a 60 euro spare instead of some bushings and o-rings kit for maybe 10. Good luck!
Wow. Great overview / review. Glad u enjoy it so much! Got a Core 2 on order. Already have a Canyon Neuron. Efficient, planted, comfortable and nimble and a great for XC-trail. This beast will give me a trail-enduro ride. I'll look to post a comparison. Happy trails!
@@ShiftMTB Nice, I am seriously considering the Jeffsy Cor 3! Ha-Ha, funny you should ask, just got a Hero 9 for my 51st BDay so there' might be something coming! :)
It came in at just under 35lbs. This is including pedals, hadlight, and GPS, extra tire sealant, bottle cage, and a little mud. It'd be safe to put it at just under 34lbs out of the box. A lighter wheelset is my next upgrade. I'm sure it can get down to 32ish lbs with new wheels. Not bad for such a big bike. Hope this helped.
I've been on a LOT of very high end bikes. This feels better than anything I've ever ridden. If you're truly in the market for the best bang for your buck, it's YT all the way. I have no incentive to praise this bike, it's honestly how I feel. I have a few things I would change, I may make a video about those soon. (They should seriously sponsor me...)
@@ShiftMTB 😂 Yeah I see, they definitely should ! I’m really contemplating on getting one. When I was reading that spec sheet I was amazed, having read some of those Santa Cruz builds. The NX build for a SC costs the same as the X01 (race) build on the YT. It’s completely mind blowing !! I’m going to give it a go then, wish me luck! Thanks for your feedback and keep shredding man !
Santa Cruz is an amazing bike company with unmatched customer service. I've never heard a negative thing about their bikes or their people. Plus you have the benefit of local shop support. That definitely is worth something. I'm very confident in my ability to work on my own bike AND we have a local bike shop who sponsors us. In the end it was just a better decision for me to go with YT. Every bit as good as Santa Cruz, way less money, but you don't get a lot of the perks that comes with a gigantic bike company. I hope you'll consider subscribing to our channel and finding us on Instagram, we would love to talk mtb with you any time you'd like!
I'm really thinking if getting this helmet. I had the Oakley DRT5 and unfortunately just crashed. 😔 On the bright side, this helmet looks really nice and seems to be a really good option as far as safety. I have a good reason to get the A3. 😃
Sorry to hear about your cash. It's a good thing that you're looking to get a new helmet! That means the last one worked! That's exactly why I got this one! I've been wearing it now for a few months, and it has yet to disappoint! It's Super comfy, and so far it's the best helmet I've had to date!
@@rdelao you're welcome! Thanks for watching! Let us know what you get! We'll have more stuff coming up! Check us out on Instagram n Facebook n stuff n whatnot! 😁👍
Hey Cody thanks for the questions! I am 6' tall on the nose. When I got the bike built up and rode it around my driveway for the first time it felt a bit small in the reach. Once it hit the trails on the mountain I found it really came alive under me, feeling very maneuverable and appropriately sized. I love riding enduro, but I think my BMX history leans me towards smaller feeling bikes. When I buy my next Jeffsy (and I will be buying one), I'll get an XL just to see the difference. I hope this helps!
