I don't get it. I'm doing the exact same thing you do and he just casts Zantsetsuken in phase two no matter what. Brought him much lower in health (below 50%) and dodged most of his spears. Doesn't matter, get killed.

I spent like 4 hours beating my head against a wall trying to beat Odin using all sorts of other “guides” that essentially just boiled down to “play perfectly, don’t make any mistakes, and have really good luck and eventually you’ll get it after a few dozen attempts.” Even using Yuffie and spamming Doppelgänger and Windstorm, it still took about a half dozen attempts before I finally managed to drop him thanks to a lucky Bahamut finisher just as he was about to cast Zantetsuken. I wouldn’t even consider this a “cheese” since it still requires quite a bit of dodging skill and luck. It’s more like the only practical way for a non-autistic person to beat him without wanting to unalive yourself in the process. What a thoroughly miserable boss…
Thanks for the vid! Rolled with Tifa instead of Aerith to raise the percentage once he's staggered. I hardly used Yuffie's Brumal Form until this fight, it made her OP as Odin barely hit me. He still managed to hit Zantetsuken, but I had Cloud with reprieve and 2 ATB bars when he began to charge for that attack. Casted Curaga and Revive one at a time after his attack to reset my offense and tried to pressure him again.

@@peaaanuuutz play sorcerer till lvl 9 for sagacity, play mage till level 100 for maximum magick stat gain, swap to magick archer use martyr bolt available from lvl 1 magick archer. Use on drag <10sec kill for sure. EDIT: PS: nub
@@Hth_musta3122That particular drake ish incredibly low level. And they are playing a hyper specific warfarer burst kill build... Even my normal ass nothing special build kills this specific drake faster... So no. It really wasn't that fast...😂

You all just live to find something to hate about and go on about your day feeling accomplished but what have you accomplished by hating? Literally nothing. It was fast and no matter what build you use I’m sorry but even if there’s “levels” Drake are still one of the creatures that are the hardest to finish off. I personally can’t kill one just yet with any builds/classes, I don’t know what I a lack but one day I’ll get there point is if you can no matter your vocation then that’s good, the creator in this video did it with they’re class and that’s what matters… it is so deep for nothing guys come on.
My team was Cloud, Tifa, and Yuffie. When Odin was pressured I switched immediately to Tifa to raise the stagger meter. And yes, Yuffie will do significant damage.
Gotta be wary of his Reprisal ability as well, if anyone is hit they get an unprompted de buff for a little bit that allows Odin to essentially “parry” your ATB abilities until it wears off. I thinks it’s the red shackles around the players wrist that are a pain to keep track of when trying to dodge everything 😅
This took me several attempts but was able to get it. Now i gotta do the gilgamesh side quest. Probably won't attempt that until I'm closer to level 70. Good video. 👍
I used Aerith, Cloud, and Tifa. The tip was saying something along the lines that Odin loves a good fight with ATBs, evading attacks, and inflicting status effects. I kept dying to his Zantetsuken. I went in and just started mixing things up. I had deprotect on Cloud and I dodged a good chunk of his hits by dodging forward but I also got him by quite few. I did lots of 1 bar ATBs and some synergies and kept inflicting deprotect whenever it would wear off. I staggered him twice and that was the end of things. This was on Normal mode also. Perhaps there's some kind of hidden timer that increases when you do ATBs, status effects, and evade. Just something I'm pondering. Hope that helps someone.
He has a hidden mood bar. Odin gauges whether you're an exciting fight or a boring fight. If he finds you boring he does the Zantetsuken. Saw this broken down on a different video.
A lot of the guides on this give false info… at 1st I was told if u get hit so many times he uses zan but I found out it’s basically a dps check… do enough damage and he won’t use it… used a exploding yuffie guide and destroyed him.. enemy skill with hp asorb+haste+sonic boom+dopple+the electric blast from enemy skill brumal to evade mug to close distance blindside to recover. Last 3 skills I mentioned all return atb gauge when they land/evade so u can spam electric explosions that heal u and jus cast a regen and your good
Well, I was just using ninjutsu and Windstorm. I don't think that'll pass any dps check lol. I think the fight just requires you to just use abilities and not spam attack all the time.
When I beat it I only used buffs limit breaks brumal and blind side so basically beat it with basic attacks and the explosion from enemy skill. It’s a very common thing they put in their online ff fights. If you don’t do enough damage u get 1 shot. Very simple mechanic
The other stats basically boil down to: pLaY pErFeCtLy aNd mAkE zErO mIsTaKeS. I was about to stop playing the whole game because of this shit. But then I figure, ok, one last hail mary, lets google "odin cheese". And here we are. Thank you, sir, you legend!
It's both. If you get hit repeatedly without doing some amount of damage, Odin sounds Gjallarhorn, which means he's about to do Zen. But if you do enough moves on him, he does Sleipnir, which pressures him. You have to do enough damage to him to slow down his invisible meter that leads to Zen. Anytime he does damage to you, that meter shoots up faster.
Could i get some commentary here? What are you using? When are you using it? I don't see you doing anything but standard attacks and doppelganger, and bio. But when i try it im dead 53 seconds later. Can you don't me something.
Are revival earrings effective if you can't prevent Zantetsuken? I haven't got to this fight yet, I'm still in Chapter 11 trying to clear head case and saw this on recommended.
Do you just use windstorm as soon as you have the ATB? Or just weaving it in as necessary between ninjutsu spam? Also thx, fuck this fight, cheesing him is what i was looking for.
Well i only have like basic stuff, like HP materia 3, and skill master for faster ATB charge. The rest are just buffs like haste and spells. Just remember to spam skills so he doesn't use Zantetsuken. If you launch your shuriken at him, use Windstorm to reset his Zantetsuken timer.
