Just listened to this again for the umpteenth time since it came out in 2008. Still brings a lump to my throat. Nothing compares to the promise we have in Him!
Imagine being Jewish and being subjected to this sort of thing nonstop. This isn’t “this little light of mine” or “How Great Thou Art”. This song is from like 1990. But…it is a banger.
Still in 2023, for me, this performance was the most emotional one. Hope all contestants, judges, musicians, audiance, who are of any part related to this show and the ones organizing this contest are blessed and are doing great
Our country is offended by everything now. Publicly declaring your faith can offense people. If they did this today people would be outraged. What happened to one nation under God?
They had a huge backlash for using the name Jesus in the song even though the original has Jesus name in it. They changed to "my shepherd". I find it funny how grown men are tilted over the name of Jesus who had come and gone 2000 years ago or maybe because the devil know his time is up.
The previous show ran long so our DVR didn’t record it all. Therefore, we had no idea they ended it with Shout to the Lord. When this show began with Ryan announcing they were singing this song, my wife and I looked at other, jaws dropped. By the time they were done, we were in tears! Thanks to the producers for bucking trends, letting them sing this song twice, and correctly the second time!
They wouldn't dare do this today. Everyone would freak out. This video has been in my favorites for years and I'm so glad this crew had the opportunity to sing this for the world to hear.
