My dad fought in this war. My grandparents are Dutch. They emigrated to SA after WW2. My dad always kept his Dutch passport and identity number, but he went to fight with his friends. My dad never speaks about it... He was stationed close to the border between Namibia and Angola, that's all I know. My dad didn't need to go as he wasn't considered a South African citizen. It is so sad that so many young men died during this war. May they all rest in peace. I find it so sad and unnecessary.
