I have been watching videos and good pendulum casters for years but this is by far the best I have seen if I could cast like that lol . I barely do a ground cast and a short Hatteras cast sometimes , understand I fish in Florida and is rare not to have people walking around is too dangerous.
Thanks for saying so, but I've actually come a long way since this was filmed. Check out our "Carolina Surf Casters Association" RU-vid channel for a whole bunch of slow motion casting videos with all different styles.
I have been trying to get this down for days. This video is exactly what I needed to see how I’m doing it all wrong. This video is a diamond in the rough for pendulum instruction.
Akios 656CTM. I prefer it for long-range fishing. Spinning reels, about 5000 size, work too. But if you want a conventional, look for a smaller one that has no level-wind apparatus.
Well, you just lift your thumb from the spool to release. It seems to just happen intuitively at the right time for most casters… between the moment the rod straightens and the moment the line starts getting pulled off the spool.
Lovely casting style. What beginners don't realise is the left hand is the most important. Try to pull it into your left shoulder and it ends up in the middle of your chest. This bloke nails it!
A few timing issues going wrong there - - Your lead/bottom hand should be pushing out to bring the lead back, not following it. This will ensure your lead is gradually increasing in speed throughout the entire backswing and into the turning over phase. It is not just a movement to get the lead into a position ‘outside the tip’. - when your lead passes your right shoulder (gaining speed throughout), turn your head, look up 45*; and THEN do a weight transfer from back to front foot, ideally with a step. You are on the way there, just needs fine tuning. You are leading the lead, whereas you really want the lead to, due to centripetal forces, be helping you to load the rod. Hard to explain, but you forward movement should be when your lead is at 180* to target, but wanting to go at 90*, if that makes sense?
C'est très bien mais avec un pivotement du pied suivis du bassin vous pouvez rajouter de la puissance dans la rotation du projectil et sur et certains rajouter au moin 40 voir 50 maître de plus. Bravo pour la démonstration.
Awesome video! Very informative! Can you tell us what length of the rod and size weight you're using in this video please. Just need for reference only. Thanks much!
Thank you. It was an 11' old fiberglass rod, throwing 3 or 4 oz. I'd actually refer you to my videos from the past year or two for much better examples and much better equipment, too.
@@TopLasagnaLover The spool is a prototype of some kind that was given to me by a dealer. A speed bullet is an extended brass bushing that fills in the gap when you remove the clicker cog and the spool friction associated with it. It essentially makes it so that the bearings are the ONLY point of contact between the spool and the rest of the reel.
@@TopLasagnaLover Well, the beauty of them, as you may know, is that all Akios parts and some Ambassadeur parts are interchangeable with those on the Omoto Chief series... so the easiest thing is to just study the schematics and look for those other brands' parts dealers. Are you in the U.S.?
The line almost releases itself. It's not something most casters even have to think about. After just a couple of casts you begin to subconsciously sense when the rod has loaded fully and is just beginning to unload... and that's when the line gets released.
Damm I was looking into the rod I currently use breakaway rods like the gdx 12ft wondering if this CPS rod would benefit my casting more since it seems like higher quality than breakaway as well I recently purchased a zziplex primo Syncro I’ll be using for tournament casting but wanting a rod like yours cps 12’8 for fishing and getting most distance what you think?
The CPS 12'8" is a great fishing rod... very slim (21mm butt diameter) yet powerful, and has a zoned action. It was a bit anemic on the casting field, though, so I actually recently bought the HDX-Tournament (14'). It's monstrous compared to the CPS. Anyway, I think both Nick Meyer and Tommy Farmer know what they're doing as far as rod design. Their rods are pretty much on par with each other and you probably wouldn't gain much by trading in an LDX for a CPS 12'8".
@@leonardothelion9091 "Upgrade" could mean different things... LONGER ROD: Tommy Farmers 13' 3-6 oz. rod would be similar to your GDX, only longer. MORE POWERFUL ROD: The CPS 12'8" 4-8o z.would probably be a step, in terms of power, between the GDX and a full-power heaver like the HDX or CPS 13' 6-10 oz. QUALITY/PRICE: I think CPS and Breakaway are on-par as far as the quality of the blank, but the CPS is probably a little fancier-looking. Next step up from those might be CTS, Vega, or AFAW rods. At the top of the line are Century, Italcanna and Zziplex.
Just saw this video i have no idea how the new cps 2 series is but I had a 14ft cps original before the K guides custom extendend tournament rod which I tought would help ke cast farther but im a small 5'6" 135 lb guy and that rod overpowered me it had to much backbone for me to power through it was a nice sturdy rod but I could cast my regular 12fter farther so mabey the 12-13 regular cps 2 would work but the 14ft custom rod I would not recommend unless you are a very tall and muscular strength person. I normally use a 12fter and can get 100yds with 5 and bait I was trying to achieve farther like 150yds my distance actually dropped by about 20 yrds😅 Just my opinion and hope you get a good rod for yourself that suits you and not go overboard like me hahaha good luck and tight lines👍🎣
In a pure distance casting tournament setting where only monofilament is allowed, yes. Fishing on a beach with baits and weather, the difference is negligible and a conventional reel’s only advantage is more cranking torque, in my opinion. In fact, because you can use braid on a spinning reel and don’t have to add anti-backlash braking, it can cast further sometimes.
That's one floppy rod, the whole top half of it overshoots a lot doesnt it, and then wobbles back and forth a bit at the end of the cast. If you was using a multiplier i reckon that would cause you a lot of over-runs. If that was a rod with a crisper action, id say thats a cast that would get you some seriously good distances
Indeed. I’ve since invested in a proper zoned action carbon fiber rod and cast 206 yards with it in a recent tournament. Back in 2017 I had no clue and was using this thrift store tackle you see in this video.
Probably the best tutorial out there is Tommy Farmer on Fisherman’s Post. Search for that on RU-vid to get the fundamentals, then look for videos specifically about “off the ground” cast to get knowledge on this specific style. It would be hard for me to make something better than what’s already out there.
niceee !!!!! could you do an explenation of this cast??? How much leader you left on the ground? half the rod? and also , the sinker is paralel to the beach? or it kkep straitgh from the leader? thanks the video is awsome!
Thank you. A good starting point for the drop length is maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of the rod length. When laying the leader on the ground, you want it 90 to 130 degrees to the rod. Any less of an angle than 90 degrees and the sinker swings out of alignment from the centrifugal force.
Thank you - my philosophy is getting technique near-perfect. Good distances will just happen. That’s where I’m at now. Once it’s in your muscle memory and it feels natural, more speed and power can be added with minimal loss of control and I hope to reach 250 yards in a few months in this way.
If you are referring to the “sinker drop”, almost down to my right hand for this type of cast. If you are asking how far these casts go, 185 metres on average.
