HI, MY NAME IS ED BUT MY FRIENDS CALL ME BIG ED. MY CHANNEL WILL BE PRIMARILY ABOUT MOTORCYCLES, ART, AND MUSIC. ALSO WILL BE FOLLOWING SOME OF MY ENDEAVORS AND WATCH ME TRY TO GROW MY RU-vid CHANNEL FROM GROUND 0. HOPE YOU WILL COME ALONG FOR THE RIDE.
On my 2011 Road King classic my compensator went bad around 50,000 miles, when they go bad you know it, when I would shut the bike off, you would hear this horrible metal grinding sound like a bag of marbles exploded in the primary and sometimes at start up the bike would stall and cough and you would hear the same metal grinding sound like marbles exploded in the primary. The bike always had the signature Harley clunk when putting the bike in first gear. So I installed the screaming eagle compensating sprocket Also had to epoxy the plastic oil slinger inside the primary cover to help sling more oil on the compensator. Poor oil circulation to the compensator is what primarily leads to their failures. I also installed a new stock Harley spring loaded chain tensioner however I have also installed those Hayden automatic tensioners in other peoples bikes and I haven’t had a problem with either of them. and since installing the screaming eagle compensator I haven’t had a problem with the compensator since. And yes, it still has the signature Harley clunk going into first gear, but that never bothered me.👍🍺 SLICK
I never experienced the clunk with any of my other harleys, and I knew people said it was normal, guess it is something i'll have to get used to. Thanks Slick. I didnt have to put the slinger in mine.
I agree on the cost of upgrade but stock ones suck I’ve run them in big hp bikes and it’s a go to part for me Hayden is about the best for dollar right now can’t wait for the next update Peace out BigEd have a great weekend brother 🤙🏾✊🏾
Thanks Big Ed my 06 twin cam softail deluxe clunks pretty good. I would like to quiet it down some. But I think I’ll pass on the Dark Horse set up. I agree with you I have two shovels and they don’t make no where near the racket my twin cam does when dropped in 1st. gear. Thanks again Ed you take care and ride safe.
I think they came out with it when the first compensator I know I had that one in my '09 FLH. And it definitely kicked back when you started it hot it's cuz the springs weren't those washer springs were too weak so when they came out with the screaming eagle one it was springs were larger and I think they were much better on that kicking back everybody thought like the starter or something wrong with the starter and this is back in '09 maybe
Well a compensator is supposed to smooth out the pulses because the motor is stroked I mean it has a long stroke considering a lot of motors which have a short stroke. So it's literally just a gear on the end of the motor as I understand it.....
Well I swear by the red line a friend of mine that runs a borax mine in California he runs the maintenance in there he said that lasts the longest and not they almost never change it in the equipment when the equipment's done they just leave it in the mind. Mine... My neighbor is a 2017 or I tell you it clunks into gear like like an old train. Why wouldn't feel so bad if you got a clunk
Glad your doing good I believe there mesh tranny's so to find neutral better try going in neutral while bike moving brother an showed me that trick it pretty much stop the hard to find the glunk no matter what you do to it be cause it a mesh tranny nature of the beast
We all been wondering about you Ed, good to see you! I been getting a little burnt out too lately, my wife says i need to slow down ( she probably is right, lol !) Take er easy bro 🤘
Good to see ya kicking and scratching Big Guy. My cousin once said, “Gettin old is like frying bacon naked. Ya know it’s gonna hurt, ya just don’t know where.” Good luck to ya.
Good to hear from you Big Ed, I kind of sensed you took a break from RU-vid to start enjoying your bikes and just getting away from RU-vid land in general. I don’t blame you and am glad you’re doing ok. I sent you a message on your last video about how to fix that cruise control issue on your road king. It’s seems the roll out switch has to be disconnected on the right side of the bikes frame neck where you see the wiring harness. I guess you pull back a rubber cover to expose the roll out switch and simply disconnect it. Good to see you again!
Thanks, yeah, just trying to cut back on videos and go out and do more. What i did for the cruise control, was, i took the headlight out, and just unplugged the cruise switches. Thanks again.
@@edZILLA64 A few had ask if anyone knew or heard from you . I know Oct you go in . Last month a Car about got me they was going 80 in a 35 curve come into my lane my last words would of been Oh shit , that is going to hurt . I still don't know how they mist me .
Man I was worried about you. Didn’t know if you were feeling bad or U-Tube and pulled the plug. It seems like u-tube has been hitting the motorcycle channels hard. Glad see everything is going well Big Ed you take care and ride safe. Let us know how the Dark Horse compensator works out. My first gear clunk on my shovel is embarrassing.
They say its normal, but my EVO and my Shovel don't do it. I have heard mixed reviews on the Darkhorse, but will definitely do a review on it. As far as RU-vid goes, I do believe they shadow ban some of my videos and get rid of some of my Subscribers. I had 5 new Subscribers one day, and then later that afternoon , they were gone.
Great to see you BigEd I hear you about the videos brother Great upgrades on the king That new comp and Hayden tensioner are going to work well for you I totally agree on the riding more too instead of watching and making videos as we get older time is more precious Peace out ✌🏾 ✊🏾 ✌🏾
Hello Big Ed, I was watching a video about how to fix your cruise control which seems to be very common. The fix was to disconnect the roll out switch which is located on the right side of the front of the gas tank. It’s a harness with a rubber boot you pull back and there you can expose the cut off switch and simply disconnect it. Then your cruise control will begin working again! Hope you’re ok, haven’t seen you in a while!
Have the same exact bike but big blue pearl mine didn’t come with Cruz or ABS so I would fix that cruise if possible I know they don’t make parts anymore. That’s why I don’t have it on mine. I would’ve bought it.
